Cody Martin amassed 11 points (5-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes in Friday’s loss to Philadelphia.
Due to Brandon Miller spraining his ankle during Monday’s loss to Philadelphia, Martin made his sixth start of the season in Friday’s rematch. He was solid against the 76ers, finishing one blocked shot shy of a complete stat line in 20 minutes on the floor. The negative for fantasy managers was the workload, with DaQuan Jeffries (12/5/1/1/1 with two 3-pointers in 30 minutes) and Tidjane Salaun (8/8/5/2 with two 3-pointers in 24 minutes) playing more than Martin. If Miller is back for Monday’s game against the Rockets, there’s no need to consider any of these three in most fantasy leagues.
  • CHA Small Forward #24
Brandon Miller (left ankle sprain) is questionable for Thursday’s matchup with the Wizards.
Miller left Monday’s matchup with the 76ers after sustaining the injury, and his status at Washington is up in the air. Isaiah Wong and Tidjane Salaun could see an uptick in playing time if Miller is sidelined.
  • CHA Small Forward #24
Brandon Miller (left ankle sprain) will not return to Monday’s game against the 76ers.
Miller injured his ankle early in the fourth quarter while attempting a layup as he stepped on the foot of 76ers forward Guerschon Yabusele. His absence means more playing time for Isaiah Wong and Tidjane Salaun, neither of whom should be streamed in this spot. Miller played 31 minutes before the injury, finishing with 12 points (4-of-9 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), four rebounds, four assists, one block, and two 3-pointers.
  • CHA Power Forward #31
Tidjane Salaun (right ankle sprain) is available for Friday’s game against Chicago.
Salaun is back after missing Saturday’s loss to the Cavaliers. However, with Miles Bridges (knee) also in the lineup, the rookie is likely headed to the bench. Salaun isn’t worth rostering in most fantasy leagues, especially when used in a reserve role.
  • CHA Power Forward #31
Tidjane Salaun (right ankle sprain) is questionable to play against the Bulls on Friday.
Salaun missed their last game but had been starting at power forward for Charlotte. With Miles Bridges also questionable, the only chance that Cody Martin has at starting is if both Salaun and Bridges remain out. If Salaun plays but Bridges doesn’t, the rookie may get another start.
  • CHA Power Forward #31
Tidjane Salaun (right ankle sprain) is out for Saturday’s game against Cleveland.
Salaun injured his ankle two minutes into Thursday’s loss to the Knicks. As he has been filling in for the injured Miles Bridges, the rookie’s absence opens up a spot in the starting lineup. Cody Martin is the player most likely to fill the void and is worth streaming in deep leagues.
  • CHA Power Forward #31
Tidjane Salaun (right ankle sprain) will not return to Thursday’s game against the Knicks.
Salaun rolled his ankle during the first quarter of Thursday’s game. While he remained in long enough to attempt his free throws, the rookie gave a foul immediately after and was subbed out. Cody Martin will play more minutes with Salaun out and could be the replacement in the lineup if the rookie misses time.
  • CHA Small Forward #0
Miles Bridges (right knee bone bruise) will not play in Thursday’s game against the Knicks.
Bridges has not played since November 19, but he resumed on-court activities on November 27. He’ll miss at least one more game, keeping Tidjane Salaun in the starting lineup. While the opportunities have been there, Salaun hasn’t been consistent enough to merit being streamed in most leagues.
  • CHA Power Forward #31
Tidjane Salaun recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 10 points (4-of-10 FGs), 10 rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers against Philadelphia.
This was the rookie’s fifth straight start, and after having one of his worst games as a pro on Saturday, he bounced back in this one. Salaun recorded the first double-double of his career, which was encouraging to see for dynasty managers. Salaun’s value in redraft leagues will continue to be inconsistent, which was expected when they drafted him with the 6th overall pick this past summer. However, he just turned 19 in August, and he has some intriguing upside long-term. The minutes should continue to be there, but the production will be hit-or-miss.
  • CHA Point Guard #22
The Hornets are starting Vasilije Micic, Brandon Miller, Josh Green, Tidjane Salaun and Moussa Diabate on Friday against the Knicks.
LaMelo Ball is sidelined, and Micic will have big shoes to fill after Ball averaged 40/7/8 across his last four. Diabate will replace Taj Gibson as the starting center and team up with rookie Salaun to hold things down in the frontcourt for a team riddled with injuries at the four and five. Expect Brandon Miller to handle a sizable workload on offense.
