  • CHA Power Forward #67
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hornets have signed Taj Gibson to a one-year, $3.3 million contract.
While Gibson’s days of legitimate fantasy relevance are in the rearview mirror, this is a good move by the Hornets. The rebuilding franchise needed an “adult in the room,” a player who could positively influence the locker room, and adding Gibson addresses that issue. He spent last season with the Knicks and Pistons, appearing in 20 games (16 for New York).
  • DET Power Forward #67
Taj Gibson (right hamstring strain) is probable for Saturday’s game against the Nets.
Gibson has only one appearance for the Pistons since his signing on March 6, with the hamstring issue sidelining him for Detroit’s last nine games. If cleared, he will not impact fantasy basketball.
  • DET Power Forward #67
Taj Gibson (right hamstring strain) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Gibson will remain sidelined, but this does not impact fantasy basketball, as he is rarely in the rotation when healthy.
  • DET Power Forward #67
Taj Gibson (right hamstring strain) is listed as doubtful for Friday’s game against Memphis.
Gibson is expected to remain out for Friday’s game, but that will not have any impact on fantasy basketball or the team’s rotation.
  • DET Power Forward #67
Taj Gibson (right hamstring strain) will remain sidelined for Wednesday’s game against Atlanta.
Gibson’s continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball in the slightest.
  • DET Point Guard #25
Marcus Sasser (upper respiratory illness) and Taj Gibson (right hamstring strain) have been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Sasser’s continued absence ensures that Malachi Flynn will continue to play point guard minutes off the bench. With Cade Cunningham available, that isn’t enough to make Flynn a viable option in most fantasy leagues. As for Gibson, his absence will not impact fantasy basketball or the Pistons’ rotation.
  • DET Power Forward #67
Taj Gibson (right hamstring soreness) is doubtful to play against Memphis on Monday.
Gibson has played a grand total of 11 minutes since joining the Pistons. His potential absence will not impact the team’s rotation.
  • DET Shooting Guard #24
Quentin Grimes (right knee contusion) and Taj Gibson (right hamstring soreness) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against New Orleans.
Grimes and Gibson remain sidelined and without a timeline for return. The former’s absence is more impactful, as he was expected to play consistent rotation minutes after being acquired from the Knicks at the trade deadline. Grimes not being available frees up additional minutes for Marcus Sasser and Troy Brown Jr. on the perimeter. As for Gibson, his status does not impact fantasy basketball or the Pistons’ rotation.
  • DET Shooting Guard #24
Quentin Grimes (right knee contusion) and Taj Gibson (right hamstring soreness) have been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Celtics.
The continued absences of Grimes and Gibson are impactful due to other injuries within the rotation, most notably Simone Fontecchio and Stanley Umude. Evan Fournier, Troy Brown Jr., and Marcus Sasser are three players in line for additional minutes moving forward. Sasser offers the highest fantasy ceiling, especially if the Pistons decide to rest Cade Cunningham eventually.
  • DET Small Forward #19
Simone Fontecchio (left great toe contusion) and Taj Gibson (right hamstring soreness) have been ruled out for Wednesday’s matchup with Indiana.
Detroit already lost Ausar Thompson and Isaiah Stewart for the season, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. They will be incredibly shorthanded for this game and will likely have to turn to Evan Fournier and Chimezie Metu, who they signed to a 10-day deal earlier in the day, to play big minutes.
