Stromile Swift played just five minutes last night due to a stomach flu.
It hasn’t been the best month for Swift.
  • Stromile Swift scored a season-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting to help the Grizzlies nearly upset the Kings last night.
We’ll continue to throw plugs in for Swift to start and receive more minutes than Lorenzen Wright, but unless Hubie Brown reads RotoWorld.com and abandons his love of a 10-man rotation, big games like this will come only about once a week for Swift.
  • The most interesting fallout of Hubie Brown’s retirement will be how interim coach Lionel Hollins and/or the new head coach use Stromile Swift.
Hollins, when asked if any changes were in order, said he wouldn’t simply imitate Brown. “Coach had a strong presence. He did things a certain way. I don’t know if anybody could do it his way. I’m not Coach. I’m me. It’ll work itself out. If it means making some changes to fit me, then that’s what I’ll have to do. As far as personnel and substitutions, I’ll go with the flow. I can’t say I’ll play 10 guys or seven guys.”
  • Stromile Swift is listed as questionable for tonight’s game with a sprained thumb.
If Swift can’t play, Lorenzen Wright likely will start.
  • Stromile Swift’s ankle sprain has been classified as severe and the week off that Memphis has will probably not be enough time for him to heal.
He was helped off the court, needed a wheel chair to get to the locker room and crutches to get on the bus. He’ll have X-rays today and we expect him to end up on the injured list with the injury, which is a shame based on how well he was playing.
  • Stromile Swift and Jake Tsakalidis continue to battle for the last starting spot remaining in Memphis.
The centers appear to be neck-and-neck right now, but the loser might fall to third string behind Lorenzen Wright, who along with Shane Battier, Earl Watson and Wesley Person leads the reserve unit. Jason Williams, Mike Miller, James Posey and Pau Gasol will start, with either Swift or Tsakalidis, who figure to get equal time until a decision is made.
  • Stromile Swift got the start at center for the Grizzlies last night and had eight points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes.
Lorenzen Wright also figures to get an opportunity to start at center in the preseason, but if Swift continues to impress, he’ll be quite the sleeper on draft day.
  • Stromile Swift has been replaced in the Memphis rotation by Jake Tsakalidis.
Until further notice, Swift likely will not see action unless Tsakalidis and Lorenzen Wright are both in foul trouble or injured. Feel free to drop him.
  • Stromile Swift is not expected to miss any time despite his recovery from a dislocated left pinky finger.
Swift left the Atlanta game just before halftime, had his finger re-set and returned for five minutes in the second half.
  • Stromile Swift is questionable for tongiht after suffering a mild ankle sprain Saturday.
Swift was unable to practice on Sunday. If he can’t play, Jake Tsakalidis will back up Lorenzen Wright.
