Stephen Curry (hamstring) is out for Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Unsurprisingly, Curry is officially out for Game 5 due to the hamstring injury he suffered during Game 1. Game 6, which will be played on May 18, was a far more realistic possibility for the Warriors’ superstar guard. Buddy Hield will likely remain in the starting lineup, with Jonathan Kuminga taking on a more prominent role off the bench. Those two and Brandin Podziemski will need to be at their best if the Warriors are to extend this series, which they trail three games to one.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports Stephen Curry (hamstring) went through a workout ahead of Saturday’s loss to the Timberwolves but did not go full speed.
Game 3 on Saturday was the second straight contest Curry has missed after straining his left hamstring during Game 1. While he did some shooting and rode the exercise bike during Saturday’s workout, the Warriors guard has yet to do anything at full speed. Given the scheduling in the second round, the hope is that Golden State can pick up a win and extend the series to Game 6, which falls on May 18, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. With Curry sidelined, Jonathan Kuminga entered the rotation, finishing Game 3 with 30 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three three-pointers in 36 minutes off the bench.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports Stephen Curry (hamstring) won’t return until Game 6 at the earliest.
Curry is sitting out his second game in a row Saturday with the first hamstring injury he’s ever dealt with in his 16-year career. The 37-year-old point guard suffered the injury back in Game 1, which the Warriors were still able to win. According to Charania, the Warriors are hoping they can just win one more game to push the series to at least a Game 6, which would be the earliest Curry could return. Golden State could benefit from a unique scheduling quirk which includes four days between Games 5 and 6 of this series. Game 6 falls on May 18, which would give Curry well over a week off and also shows how serious his injury is given that’s the earliest he could potentially return.

Warriors will start Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Quinten Post in Game 2 against the Timberwolves on Thursday.
No surprise here as Curry was always a long shot to make it back for Game 2 after leaving Game 1 with hamstring injury. While there has been a report that the 37-year-old point guard is expected to miss a week, there is no firm timetable for his return. The Warriors will go big with their starting lineup for Game 2 with center Quinten Post entering the lineup in Curry’s absence.

Stephen Curry (hamstring) does not have a timetable to return to game action.
Curry suffered a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring during Tuesday’s Warriors’ series-opening win over the Timberwolves. While ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the guard is expected to miss at least one week, Curry refused to give a target date when asked about his injury on Thursday. “No,” Curry said, according to The Athletic. “This is new, and from all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. It’s just the way the body works. You can’t accelerate more than the body is telling you. It’ll be one of those after a week, really re-evaluate it every day to understand when it’s safe just to even think about playing.” This is the first hamstring injury of Curry’s career, so he’s in uncharted territory. Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield will have added importance within the Warriors’ offense, and the latter has shot 14-of-19 from three in his last two games.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Stephen Curry has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain and is expected to miss at least a week.
Shams notes that Curry has already been ruled out for Game 2 on Thursday, but the week timeline means he’ll miss Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday with a chance to return for Game 5 on Wednesday. This is the first muscle strain of Curry’s career, so how quickly he returns will depend on how he responds to rehab. Fortunately for Golden State, the team came away with a win on the road in Game 1, and two of the next three games will be at home, giving the Warriors a chance to stay alive while their superstar PG is out. Expect Buddy Hield to step into a much larger role on offense while Curry is sidelined. Hield has totaled 57 points across his last two games while stroking a blistering 14-of-18 shots from beyond the arc.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters Stephen Curry is day-to-day with a hamstring injury and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
Kerr relayed that Curry was “crushed” after being forced from the game due to injury. While Kerr described Curry as day-to-day, he also mentioned that the 37-year-old point guard will undergo imaging on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury. There should be an update on his status at some point prior to Thursday’s Game 2 showdown. With the Warriors taking Game 1 on the road Tuesday, Kerr added that it’s hard to imagine Curry being available for Game 2 on Thursday. With Game 3 on Saturday at Golden State, Curry could have more time to rest and recover.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Stephen Curry (hamstring) is out for the remainder of Game 1 against the Timberwolves.
Curry is said to be dealing with a left hamstring strain. He had 13 points, one rebound and one assist before heading to the locker room. The 37-year-old point guard grabbed at the back of his left thigh after collecting a rebound in the first half. It’s unclear how bad the injury is or what Curry’s availability might be over the course of the rest of the series at this time.

Stephen Curry shot 8-of-16 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Sunday’s win over the Rockets, scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, two blocks and four three-pointers in 46 minutes.
For those who expected Curry to come out “guns blazing” in Sunday’s Game 7, they were surprised. He essentially took a back seat in the first three quarters, scoring 14 points in the final frame to help put away the Rockets. It helps when you have Jimmy Butler on the roster, and Buddy Hield goes off for a playoff career-high nine three-pointers. Next up for Curry and the Warriors are the Timberwolves, with Game 1 on Tuesday in Minneapolis.

Stephen Curry logged 42 minutes in Friday’s Game 6 loss to the Rockets, scoring 29 points (9-of-23 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and six three-pointers.
After not waiting long into the second half of Game 5 to pull the plug, Warriors coach Steve Kerr played his key options heavy minutes on Friday in hopes of ending the series. Unfortunately for him, the move didn’t work, despite the efforts of Curry and Jimmy Butler. They combined to score 56 points, but the other three starters combined 13 on 5-of-17 shooting. The Rockets have used multiple approaches to defending Curry, and while the numbers have remained, his efficiency has taken a hit in the last two games. He’ll look to rebound in Game 7 on Sunday.
