  • DAL Point Guard #26
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that Spencer Dinwiddie has agreed to a one-year deal with the Mavericks.
Dinwiddie played for Dallas for parts of the 21-22 and 22-23 campaigns, and he’ll be back for another run with the defending Western Conference champions. Dinwiddie should offer microwave scoring and playmaking to bolster a bench that lost Josh Green and Tim Hardaway Jr. in the offseason.
  • LAL Point Guard #1
D’Angelo Russell missed all seven of his shot attempts in Thursday’s 112-105 loss to the Nuggets, going scoreless with three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one blocked shot in 24 minutes.
After bouncing back from a mediocre Game 1 with a quality effort in Game 2, there was hope that Russell could build on that 23-point night. That did not happen; he was 0-of-6 from three and 0-of-7 from the field overall. Due to his struggles, Russell lost minutes to Spencer Dinwiddie, who logged 22 and finished with eight points, two rebounds, and three assists. With the Lakers needing a win on Saturday to extend their season, it would be unsurprising if Darvin Ham did not wait long to pull Russell if he doesn’t have it. If that happens, Dinwiddie and Gabe Vincent (four points, four rebounds in 20 minutes) will play more minutes.
  • LAL Small Forward #23
LeBron James (flu-like symptoms) will play against the Warriors on Tuesday.
LeBron missed their last game and still hadn’t arrived to the arena for this game just two hours before it was schedule to tip off. However, with Anthony Davis sidelined, James will attempt to put the team on his back to help the Lakers maintain their advantage over the Warriors in the standings. Spencer Dinwiddie started in his place in their last game, but he should return to playing a role off the bench.
  • LAL Point Guard #26
Spencer Dinwiddie amassed 18 points (4-of-7 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, seven assists, and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes in Sunday’s 127-117 loss to the Timberwolves.
Dinwiddie started Sunday’s game due to the absence of LeBron James, who did not play due to flu-like symptoms. Unlike the first two times he started for James, both of the Lakers’ games against Milwaukee, Dinwiddie was productive playing alongside D’Angelo Russell. Anthony Davis (eye) exiting after playing 12 minutes was also a factor, but fantasy managers may have gotten a little more than they expected from Dinwiddie. With Davis expected to play on Tuesday and LeBron likely back as well, Dinwiddie in a reserve role isn’t a good option for fantasy managers whose leagues will still be active.
  • LAL Point Guard #26
Spencer Dinwiddie will join Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura in the starting lineup for Sunday’s matchup with Minnesota.
With LeBron James (illness) out of commission, Dinwiddie will join Los Angeles’ usual starters. Dinwiddie averaged 12.7 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 triples in three previous starts for the Lakers this season.
  • LAL Small Forward #23
LeBron James (flu-like symptoms) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Initially questionable for Sunday’s game due to a persistent ankle issue, James has been ruled out due to flu-like symptoms. Spencer Dinwiddie has been his replacement in the past, but fantasy managers should avoid streaming Dinwiddie in this spot. His offensive production has been limited on nights when he starts alongside D’Angelo Russell.
  • LAL Small Forward #23
LeBron James (left ankle peroneal tendinopathy) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves.
While James is officially questionable for Sunday’s game, the Lakers’ second in as many days, the stakes suggest he will ultimately play. If LeBron were to sit, Spencer Dinwiddie would move into the starting lineup. However, his numbers have decreased on the few occasions he has filled in for James.
  • LAL Small Forward #5
For personal reasons, Cam Reddish has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Raptors.
Reddish’s absence will not impact fantasy basketball, as most of the available reserve guard minutes have gone to Spencer Dinwiddie.
  • LAL Center #11
The Lakers will start D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, LeBron James and Jaxson Hayes against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
LeBron is back after missing their last game, and he swaps places with Anthony Davis, who is out after logging 52 minutes on Tuesday night. Hayes will start in place of AD to provide them with a post presence, which pushes Spencer Dinwiddie back to the bench.
  • LAL Power Forward #3
Anthony Davis (left knee hyperextension) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Davis played through a knee injury suffered during Tuesday’s double-overtime win over the Bucks, so his sitting out the Lakers’ second game in as many nights is unsurprising. Getting LeBron James (ankle) back will help lessen the impact of AD’s absence, with Jaxson Hayes likely moving into the starting lineup. Look for Spencer Dinwiddie to come off the bench.
