ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Spencer Dinwiddie has been waived by the Hornets.
Dinwiddie landed a one-year deal with Charlotte in July, but the team had to release a guaranteed salary ahead of the season-opener, according to Shams. The veteran guard should have no problems finding a new team given his scoring and playmaking abilities. Depending on landing spot and fit, he could be worth a look in deeper fantasy basketball leagues.
  • CHA Point Guard #26
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Spencer Dinwiddie has agreed to a one-year deal with the Hornets.
With D’Angelo Russell in Dallas, Dinwiddie became the odd man out in the backcourt, and he’ll take on a backup role behind LaMelo Ball. Given Ball’s voluminous injury history, it wouldn’t be surprising if Dinwiddie played enough to make meaningful contributions for fantasy managers.

Brandon Williams shot 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line in Wednesday’s win over the Kings, scoring 17 points with five assists and three three-pointers in 18 minutes.
Having suffered an oblique injury during Sunday’s loss to the Grizzlies, Williams was a game-time decision for Wednesday’s play-in tournament matchup. Not only did he play, but he flourished, giving the Mavericks excellent minutes off the bench. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd went ten deep with his rotation, preferring Williams over Spencer Dinwiddie, who only played the final two minutes, and the approach worked. The Mavericks visit Memphis on Friday, with the winner earning the eighth seed in the West.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Mavericks are optimistic Kyrie Irving (knee) will return to action by January.
Irving tore the ACL in his left knee on March 3, ending his season. He has a player option worth $44 million next season, but Charania reported that the Mavericks would like to tear up that deal to give the point guard a three-year extension this summer. That approach would align Irving with Anthony Davis and GM Nico Harrison regarding the remaining years on their respective contracts. With Spencer Dinwiddie being a free agent this summer, whoever else is in the Mavericks’ point guard rotation may have higher value to begin the season due to Irving’s injury.
  • DAL Point Guard #10
Brandon Williams (oblique) is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Kings.
Williams didn’t return after suffering an injury against the Grizzlies on Sunday. There’s a chance Williams be active for the play-in tournament, but Spencer Dinwiddie and Jaden Hardy will handle the point guard duties if he’s ruled out.

Brandon Williams (oblique) is questionable to return to Sunday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Williams got the starting nod in Game 82, but there is a chance that he isn’t able to complete the game. Spencer Dinwiddie and Jaden Hardy should take on extra minutes until Williams returns to the game, though he may not.
  • DAL Point Guard #26
Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) is out for Friday’s game against the Raptors.
Dinwiddie will not be available for Friday’s game, which frees up minutes within the Mavericks’ perimeter rotation. The good news for Dallas is that Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy and Brandon Williams are available. They’ll help account for Dinwiddie’s absence from the lineup.
  • DAL Point Guard #26
Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) and Jaden Hardy (ankle) are questionable for Friday’s game against the Raptors.
With Dallas locked into the 10-seed in the West, fantasy managers in active leagues should expect to see some of the team’s key players on the sidelines for the final two games of the regular season. Dinwiddie has been more valuable than Hardy, who has missed the last two games with a sprained ankle.
  • DAL Small Forward #13
Naji Marshall, Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II will start Wednesday’s game against the Lakers.
Marshall is the lone change in the Mavericks’ starting lineup, replacing Spencer Dinwiddie. The move was made for defensive reasons, as Naji gives Dallas a bigger option to place on Luka Doncic.
  • DAL Point Guard #26
Spencer Dinwiddie accounted for 18 points (7-of-13 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, four assists and two three-pointers in 29 minutes in Friday’s loss to the Clippers.
Dinwiddie has reached double figures in four straight and 12 of his last 13 games. Since moving into the starting lineup on March 19, the Mavericks’ guard has provided fifth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Dinwiddie hasn’t been the most reliable fantasy option for most of his career. Still, the current injury situation in Dallas makes him a must-roster player for Saturday’s game against the Clippers. He’s rostered in 52 percent of Yahoo! leagues, so managers in shallow leagues can find Dinwiddie on the waiver wire.
