Nick Smith Jr. (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Celtics.
Smith will miss the Hornets last game of the season after starting in his last outing. Seth Curry could step in as a starter on Sunday after scoring 17 points off the bench in Charlotte’s last game against Boston.
  • CHA Shooting Guard #8
Nick Smith Jr. (groin) is doubtful to return to Friday’s game against the Celtics.
Smith injured his groin during the second quarter of Friday’s game. With the Hornets playing for draft lottery odds, there’s no need for Smith to extend himself while dealing with an injury. The second-year guard accounted for nine points, four rebounds, four assists and two three-pointers in 17 minutes. Seth Curry started the third quarter in Smith’s place.
  • CHA Point Guard #3
KJ Simpson, Josh Okogie, DaQuan Jeffries, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams will start against the Grizzlies on Tuesday.
Jeffries will be back in the starting unit after coming off the bench on Sunday. Okogie replaced him in that game, but it will be Seth Curry that is the odd man out on Tuesday. He’ll still play a significant role off the bench.
  • CHA Center #5
Mark Williams (back) and Nick Smith Jr. (ankle) are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bulls.
Williams was a late scratch for Friday’s loss to the Kings, with his absence opening up a place in the starting lineup for Jusuf Nurkic. However, Williams’ absence was more impactful on Moussa Diabate, who recorded a double-double off the bench. As for Smith, Seth Curry has been the starter for the games he has missed, and that would remain the case if the second-year guard remains out.
  • CHA Point Guard #30
Seth Curry (back) and Taj Gibson (illness) are available for Friday’s game against the Kings.
Curry has dealt with knee and back issues lately, but is set to start for the Hornets against the Kings Friday. Gibson, who was probable with an illness, could have a bigger role Friday with Mark Williams out, but isn’t fantasy-relevant at this point in his career.
  • CHA Center #5
Mark Williams (back) and Nick Smith Jr. (ankle) are out for Friday’s game against the Kings.
A late addition to the Hornets’ injury report, Williams will not play, and his absence is more impactful than Smith’s regarding fantasy basketball. Jusuf Nurkic will likely move into the starting lineup, and Moussa Diabate should also have more minutes available. As for Smith, he did not play in Wednesday’s loss to the Pacers, resulting in Seth Curry moving into the starting lineup. Curry should retain that role against the Kings.
  • CHA Point Guard #30
Seth Curry (back) and Taj Gibson (illness) are probable to play against the Kings on Friday.
Both players should be good to go against Sacramento, though Gibson’s place in the rotation isn’t as significant with both Mark Williams and Jusuf Nurkic available. Curry has been starting for Charlotte and should remain in that role despite lower back tightness.
  • CHA Point Guard #30
KJ Simpson, Seth Curry, Josh Green, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams will start against the Jazz on Monday.
Both Curry and Green will be back in the starting lineup after missing Sunday’s game against New Orleans. DaQuan Jeffries will be pushed back to playing a reserve role, while Josh Okogie, who started in place of Green on Sunday, is out with a hamstring injury.
  • CHA Point Guard #30
Seth Curry (knee) is available for Monday’s game against the Jazz.
Curry is back after missing Sunday’s game against the Pelicans with a knee injury. Nick Smith Jr. and DaQuan Jeffries will likely see fewer minutes with the 34-year-old point guard back on the court Monday.
  • CHA Point Guard #30
Seth Curry (knee) is out against the Pelicans for Sunday.
Curry is one of many Hornets rotation players who will not be available for Sunday’s game. Nick Smith Jr. should play plenty against the Pelicans, but efficiency has been an issue for the second-year guard throughout the season. DaQuan Jeffries, who is in the starting lineup, should also play more out of necessity.
