Sebastian Telfair has been traded to the Celtics along with Theo Ratliff for the seventh pick, Dan Dickau and Raef LaFrentz.
Telfair will be the starting point guard for the Celtics next season, and would have been the best point guard in this draft had he been in it.

ESPN is reporting that the Celtics have pulled off a trade, sending their No. 7 pick to the Blazers for Sebastian Telfair.
That means the Blazers now have the fourth and seventh picks in tonight’s draft, while Boston picks up a young point guard with a lot of promise. Dan Dickau may be thrown in the deal, but it’s not official yet. Telfair was the 13th pick in the 2004 draft. The Celtics are also saying that the Allen Iverson deal is not dead, and he could end up in Boston or Philly.

Sebastian Telfair and Shannon Brown will start for resting Steve Nash and Grant Hill on Thursday against the Clippers.
Both of them deserve consideration as spot-starters, though in a game like this it will be a crapshoot as to who will gobble up all the remaining minutes.
  • MIN Point Guard #30
Aaron Brooks’ team is in the Chinese Basketball Association finals.
Brooks’ Guangdong Southern Tigers trail Stephon Marbury’s Beijing Ducks 3-1 in a best-of-seven series. Once the series is over, Brooks will be allowed to re-sign with the Suns as a restricted free agent. It’s unclear if the Suns wish to bring Brooks back as Sebastian Telfair has held down the backup point guard job nicely.
  • NBA Head Coach #10
Steve Nash played just 17 minutes in his probable last game as a member of the Suns, finishing with eight points and seven assists in a loss to the Spurs.
Nash made a curtain call toward the end of the game, but was quickly pulled for Sebastian Telfair. Telfair finished with 20 points in 22 minutes, and the Suns’ season is over with a record of 33-33, which wasn’t good enough to make the playoffs.
  • DAL Power Forward #88
Markieff Morris headlined a big bench effort in Monday’s blowout win, scoring 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 31 minutes.
Morris had a decent game on Saturday, but has been a mess for the entire second half of the year. Sebastian Telfair scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting with seven assists, two steals, a block, and a three, and also belongs on the wire in standard leagues.

Sebastian Telfair had 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block on 9-of-21 shooting in 31 minutes on Saturday.
Steve Nash was benched after just six minutes with a tweaked back, as the Suns were drilled 35-13 in the first quarter. They’re still in the playoff hunt so we expect Nash’s minutes to return to normal on Monday (if he’s healthy), meaning Telfair may not do this again. But if Nash is out for that one, Telfair would be a sneaky add in fantasy.
  • MIA Shooting Guard #26
Shannon Brown started for resting Grant Hill in the Suns’ surprising win over the Clippers on Thursday, scoring a career-high 21 points on 5-of-12 shooting (3-of-5 from deep, 8-of-10 from the line) with three rebounds and a steal in 29 minutes.
Brown has done this much too little for us to bat an eye, and one has to wonder how the Suns’ slow start might have stunted any chance for Brown to be productive this year in a new locale. Sebastian Telfair started for Steve Nash (rest), too, scoring seven points with eight assists, one steal, and one block. We’re expecting both Nash and Hill to play on Friday, so neither spot-starter will be of worth a second act. Marcin Gortat struggled with eight points and six boards, Channing Frye hit four treys for 12 points with six boards and three blocks, and Jared Dudley cooled off with 11 points, six boards, and a three.
  • OKC Point Guard #31
Sebastian Telfair scored 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting with three rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes on Monday.
Steve Nash (hip) played and looked good, and was able to get an early rest with the Suns in control of the game throughout. Telfair won’t have any real fantasy value with Nash at the controls, but if anything were to happen then he has proven he can put up numbers lately.

The Jazz have expressed “initial exploratory interest” in free agents Sebastian Telfair, Rasual Butler, and Roger Mason.
The Jazz apparently are content with their roster for the most part, and are looking for veterans to fill around their young squad. Raja Bell would appear to be the favorite for backup shooting guard duties, but may be available for trade, and these could be the pieces the Jazz are looking at to replace him.
