Sean Singletary has decided to return to Virginia for his senior season.
“I just thought that it would serve me best to return to school and get my degree and become more of a complete player,” said Singletary. “I want to work on my game and also get stronger.” A first-team All-ACC selection the past two years, Singletary was projected as a second rounder in this year’s draft.
  • PHI Point Guard
Sean Singletary, who worked out for Philadelphia Friday, said he is still debating whether to enter the draft or not.
He has until Monday to make up his mind if wants to take his chances on the draft or return to Virginia for his senior year.
  • PHI Point Guard
Virginia point guard Sean Singletary was among a group of four draft prospects to work out for Portland on Friday.
Nevada point guard Ramon Sessions, Michigan forward Brent Petway and Fresno State forward Dominic McGuire also underwent drills, tests, two-on-two competition and one-on-one play during the two-hour workout. Coach McMillan described Singletary as an “unbelievable” player with a great shooting touch. Singletary has yet to hire an agent so he can still elect to opt out of the draft and return to college before the June 18 deadline.
  • PHI Point Guard
The Bobcats did not renew their team option on guard Sean Singletary, making him an unrestricted free agent.
He might have trouble sticking in the league and isn’t expected to have any fantasy value if he is able to hang on.
  • PHI Point Guard
The 76ers have waived training camp invitee Sean Singletary.
Singletary averaged 2.4 points last season, playing for both the Suns and Bobcats.
  • PHI Point Guard
The 76ers have invited four free agents to attend their training camp, including guard Sean Singletary.
Undrafted guard Dionte Christmas will also be on hand, along with forward Brandon Bowman and center Jared Reiner. These invitations are largely to increase the intensity of camp, and fantasy owners should expect anything from this make-good bunch.
  • NOP Shooting Guard
The Rockets acquired guard D.J. Strawberry from the Suns on Monday, sending Sean Singletary to Phoenix.
Strawberry’s contract is only guaranteed if he makes the opening night roster. Rockets GM Daryl Morey said Strawberry “has a shot” at making the team. “He’s athletic,” Morey said, “can really defend multiple guard spots. Phoenix was starting to use him at [point guard]. That’s where he’ll be unique.” Even odds he makes the team, 1000:1 that he makes an impact in fantasy leagues.
  • PHI Point Guard
The Suns acquired rookie point guard Sean Singletary in a trade with the Rockets on Monday.
“Sean gives us depth at the point guard spot,” said Suns GM Steve Kerr. “He also puts a lot of pressure on the ball defensively.” Singletary will only play spot minutes behind Steve Nash and Goran Dragic -- the Rockets had no place for him, and his contract becomes partially guaranteed at the end of the month. He has now been on three NBA teams (Suns, Rockets, Kings) without playing a single game -- the rare ‘journeyman’ rookie.
  • LAL Small Forward #37
The Rockets trade with the Kings for Ron Artest is now official. In addition to Artest, Houston receives Sean Singletary and Patrick Ewing. The Kings get Bobby Jackson, first-round draft pick Donte’ Greene, Houston’s 2009 first-round draft pick and $1 million.
Artest reinforces the Rockets’ championship aspirations, giving them a versatile offensive weapon and former Defensive Player of the Year. In 2007-2008 he averaged 21 points and six rebounds per game, numbers he should be able to duplicate even with T-Mac and Yao getting their touches.
  • PHI Point Guard
The Rockets acquired point guard Sean Singletary from the Kings as part of their five-player swap on Thursday.
Singletary’s minutes won’t improve with the scenery change, as he’s stuck behind Rafer Alston and Aaron Brooks on the depth chart. Taken with the 42nd pick in this year’s draft, we probably won’t see much of Singletary this season.
