The Celtics will waive F Rob Kurz and G Micah Downs.
Both players are training camp bodies and neither was expected to make the final roster.
  • BOS Small Forward
    Celtics sign F Rob Kurz.
The deal is non-guaranteed. Kurz, who was last seen in the Spanish league in 2010, will get a camp invite from the Celtics, but is a long shot to make the team. He had a couple of surprisingly fantastic nights for the Warriors back in 2009, but his NBA run was a short one. He’s just a training camp body.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Guard Monta Ellis (sore left ankle), guard Marco Belinelli (sprained right ankle), and forward Brandan Wright (sore left shoulder) are not expected to play Friday against the Rockets.
The Warriors could be down to seven available players Friday, and that also includes recently activated Andris Biedrins, who may not be 100%. This means that somebody from this trio, or Jamal Crawford (who is doubtful for Friday), must dress down so the Warriors meet the minimum eight-player requirement. With that in mind, any Warrior that is healthy and not listed here should get fantasy consideration, including Rob Kurz if you’re desperate, in a deep league, and willing to gamble.
  • BOS Small Forward
Free agent forward Rob Kurz is hoping to sign with the Sixers this summer.
He is not likely to return to the Warriors next season, although he did have several decent stretches for coach Don Nelson last year. Regardless of where he lands, it’s unlikely that Kurz will have fantasy relevance this season.
  • BOS Small Forward
Rob Kurz came off the Warriors bench for 21 points and five rebounds on Saturday, making 8-of-14 field goals and a career-best 4-of-7 three-pointers.
Kurz added three assists and one steal in 37 minutes and might actually be worth owning in deep leagues. The Warriors are so thin that he’ll play decent minutes by default.
  • BOS Small Forward
Free agent forward Rob Kurz has yet to accept the Cavaliers invitation to training camp because they are not guaranteeing him significant money.
According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, there is one other team interested in giving Kurz a guaranteed deal. He shouldn’t have fantasy value no matter where he lands.
  • BOS Small Forward
The Cavaliers have signed free agent forward Rob Kurz to a non-guaranteed contract worth $736k.
Kurz averaged just 3.9 points and 2.0 rebounds with the Warriors last season, but he has a soft shooting touch (40% from downtown) and could be a nice complement to lumbering big men Shaquille O’Neal and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The Cavs also signed center Darryl Watkins to a non-guaranteed contract, though the odds of his making the team are very slim.
  • BOS Small Forward
Forward Rob Kurz, who has basically been offered a spot on the Cavaliers’ roster, is now thinking about taking more money to play for Denver instead.
The fantasy implications on where Kurz lands are almost nonexistent, but he is a 3-point specialist who was occasionally worth a pickup in deep leagues last season when Don Nelson chose to play him. The Cavs would like to get him to help spread the floor with smaller lineups, but he’ll go to Denver if they offer him more guaranteed cash.
  • BOS Small Forward
Rob Kurz has decided to take the Cavaliers’ non-guaranteed contract invitation to participate in training camp.
He was also considering Denver, but he has a pretty good shot at making Cleveland’s roster because they currently have just 12 guaranteed contracts. Of course, he’ll have to perform well, which means he’ll be expected to hit a ton of threes in camp and the preseason.
  • BOS Small Forward
The Cavaliers waived forward Rob Kurz and center Luke Nevill on Monday.
This brings Cleveland’s roster down to 18 players, so expect further cuts in the next few days.
