HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports the Wizards waived F/C Richaun Holmes.
With only $250,000 of Holmes’ contract for the 2025-26 season guaranteed, he was considered a candidate to be waived this offseason. The veteran forward/center appeared in 31 games for the Wizards last season, averaging 7.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 17.2 minutes. If Holmes were to catch on with another team, he could provide frontcourt depth, but he’d probably be an injury streamer at best in fantasy basketball.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #13
Jordan Poole (elbow) and Richaun Holmes (shoulder) are out for Sunday’s game against the Heat.
Poole and Holmes will not be available for Sunday’s season finale, with the former’s absence being more impactful. Bub Carrington and AJ Johnson have been the starting guards, which will likely remain the case against the Heat. Poole’s 2024-25 season was very good for him, even if the individual resurgence did not result in more wins for the Wizards. As for Holmes, he had a limited impact on fantasy basketball and is unlikely to be a draftable player in most fantasy leagues next fall.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Bulls.
Holmes is set to miss his fifth straight game on Friday. Tristan Vukcevic can continue to take advantage of his absence as Washington’s backup center.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is doubtful for Friday’s game against the Bulls and JT Thor (knee) is questionable.
Holmes has missed Washington’s last four games and appears likely to miss a fifth on Friday. With Anthony Gill (hamstring) already out, Thor is one of the Wizards who may pick up a few more minutes if he can go. Tristan Vukcevic would be the big “winner” regarding playing time; he’s worth slotting into lineups in deep leagues that are still active.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is out for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Holmes is out for the fourth game in a row with a shoulder injury. Tristan Vukcevic is likely to continue to take his minutes off the bench, though he doesn’t have much fantasy value in a back up role.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Holmes is expected to miss his fourth-straight game on Wednesday. Tristan Vukcevic should continue to absorb minutes off the bench if Holmes is ruled out.
  • WAS Small Forward #32
Khris Middleton (knee) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Pacers.
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is doubtful. Tuesday’s game will be Middleton’s sixth straight missed with a knee injury. Holmes will likely miss a third consecutive game with a shoulder injury. The absences have opened up playing time for some of Washington’s younger players, notably AJ Johnson and Tristan Vukcevic.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) and Tristan Vukcevic (knee) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Celtics.
Both the Wizards’ backup centers have been ruled out. Alex Sarr won’t have much support, so Anthony Gill and JT Thor could be called upon to play some small-ball center minutes against Boston.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) and Tristan Vukcevic (knee) are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Celtics.
While Vukcevic has not missed a game due to his injury, Holmes was held out of Thursday’s loss to the Magic. His absence led to more playing time for fellow reserve Anthony Gill, who has not been productive enough to merit being streamed in most fantasy leagues. Alexandre Sarr plays the lion’s share of the minutes at center, limiting the backups’ fantasy value.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is out for Thursday’s game against the Magic.
Holmes left Wednesday’s game against the Wizards with a shoulder injury and didn’t return. He was initially ruled doubtful for Thursday and subsequently ruled out. Anthony Gil (hip) could see additional minutes if he’s available and if not JT Thor would be the next man up.
