  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants will be out 4-6 months after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee on Monday.
Everyone in the fantasy basketball community is fully aware of the term microfracture surgery after what Amare Stoudemire went through last season, so don’t expect McCants to have much value next year. Marko Jaric and “sophomore” Bracey Wright will likely benefit from his absence, although Trenton Hassell is the early front runner for the bulk of his minutes. This is really bad news for McCants, who was penciled in as a probable starter for the Wolves next season.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants, last seen playing for Texas in the D-Leauge, is reportedly in discussions to play in China and is interested in playing abroad for the first time.
His NBA career is obviously not going as planned, making him a prime canidate to spend some time overseas.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Rashad McCants is being pursued by the Chinese team Jiangsu.
This is the same team that currently employs Dan Gadzuric and Mardy Collins. McCants was linked to China back in September, and Stein reports that Jiangsu is the latest team to attempt to convince him to end his “self-imposed exile” and return to basketball.
  • Point Guard #21
Patrick Beverley and Rashad McCants each worked out for the Lakers on Tuesday.
The Lakers have worked out McCants in the past, but he’s nothing more than training camp fodder. Beverley, who was named MVP of the Eurocup last season, could potentially emerge as a cheap backup shooting guard option if the Lakers choose to go that route.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants failed his physical with SIG Strasbourg in France.
McCants had signed overseas but was released after failing his physical. At this point, he’s a major longshot to return to ever return to the NBA.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants has signed in China.
He’ll play with Foshan. Although he remains on the NBA radar, McCants will have to show a lot more to get a potentially interested team to roll the dice.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants has signed with the Texas Legends of the D-League.
McCants has been back and forth between the D-League club and overseas. Now 28 years old, McCants last played in the NBA in 2009.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants is dealing with injuries and is only about 85% healthy.
He has a groin injury and has been dealing with an ankle sprain as well. There are a lot of questions about his work ethic and physical conditioning, meaning he’s probably not a good fantasy pick this year. There’s no doubt he’s talented though, so he’s worth keeping an eye on.
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants was told the difference between being hurt and being injured in camp yesterday.
“He’s got to fight through that,” new head coach Dwane Casey said. “There’s a difference between being hurt and being injured. From this point on in his career, he’s probably going to have something on his body that’s going to be hurt. And you’re going to have to push through it. If you’re injured and can’t go, I understand that. He’s learning.”
  • DAL Shooting Guard
Rashad McCants sprained his ankle in his last preseason game.
He may play in the next one, but he’s struggling with the injury. His coach told him there’s a difference between being hurt and being injured, so if he can play, we think he will. He may worth a last-round pick this year, but then again, there will probably be a more proven pick sitting out there.
