R.J. Hampton has signed a 10-day contract with the Wizards.
Hampton was waived by the Heat at the trade deadline, and he has been playing with the Capital City Go-Gos. He’ll get a chance to suit up for the Wizards, and he could end up making an impact during silly season. He has been disappointing through the first few years of his career, but this will be a good opportunity for him to show why he was a first round pick in 2020. He isn’t worth adding yet, but he is worth keeping tabs on.
  • FA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton was waived by the Heat on Friday.
Despite being healthy, Hampton hasn’t played in over a month. This won’t impact their rotation at all.
  • MIA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton (abdominal hernia) will play against the Knicks on Saturday.
After being a late addition to the injury report, Hampton will be available to play for the Knicks after all. However, he doesn’t see the floor enough to impact fantasy basketball.
  • MIA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton (abdominal hernia) is now questionable to play against the Knicks on Saturday.
Hampton wasn’t on the initial injury report, but now his status for Saturday’s game is up in the air. However, he hasn’t played in over three weeks despite being healthy. His status for this game won’t impact fantasy basketball.
  • MIA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton (stomach illness) is not on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Thunder.
Hampton was held out of Monday’s win over Houston, but his absence did not significantly impact the Heat. However, with Kyle Lowry spraining his left hand during that game, Hampton might move into the starting lineup for Wednesday. Even if that happens, Josh Richardson is a better streaming option for managers needing to account for Lowry’s (doubtful for Wednesday) absence.
  • MIA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton (illness) has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Rockets.
Hampton was initially questionable for Monday’s game, but his absence will not significantly impact the Heat rotation. Kyle Lowry (illness) has been cleared to play, so he’ll start at point guard, while Tyler Herro can help with the playmaking duties.
  • MIA Point Guard #4
R.J. Hampton (illness) is questionable for Monday’s game against the Rockets.
Hampton is a late addition to the injury report, which doesn’t bode well for his availability on Monday. With Kyle Lowry (illness) considered probable, there may not be room for Hampton within the rotation if he’s cleared to play.
  • MIA Point Guard #7
Kyle Lowry (head contusion) will play against the Clippers on Monday.
Lowry has missed their last two games, though he was listed with general soreness. That was changed to a head contusion ahead of Monday’s game, but he will still return to the lineup. That will push RJ Hampton back to the bench and likely out of the rotation, though he only played eight minutes as a starter in their last game.
  • MIA Small Forward #22
Jimmy Butler (left calf strain) and Kyle Lowry (general soreness) are questionable to play against the Jazz on Saturday.
Butler has missed the team’s last four games, but he has a chance to return on Saturday. If he does, either Jaime Jaquez Jr. or Duncan Robinson will be pushed to the bench. Lowry missed their last game, which allowed RJ Hampton to play 25 minutes as a starter. He will return to the bench and fantasy irrelevancy if Lowry is back in the lineup.
  • MIA Small Forward #8
Jamal Cain shot 7-of-14 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Thursday’s 114-102 win over the Warriors, scoring 18 points with six rebounds, two steals, and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
With Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, Josh Richardson, and Caleb Martin all sidelined, the Heat needed others to step up alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. Cain was among those who answered the call, matching his career-high with 18 points while also grabbing six rebounds. Not even rostered in one percent of Yahoo leagues, Cain is worth adding to watch lists in case the Heat remain as shorthanded as they were on Thursday. But he isn’t someone who fantasy managers have to add right now. Among the spot starters on Thursday was R.J. Hampton, who finished with seven points, two rebounds, and three assists in 25 minutes.
