Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, and Dereck Lively II will start Thursday’s game against the Clippers.
The Mavericks are without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, opening up two spots in the starting lineup. Dinwiddie and Grimes will fill the resulting voids, making both viable streaming options. Thompson and Washington are also in line to see their fantasy values boosted, as there will be more shots to go around with Luka and Kyrie sidelined.

Kyrie Irving (right shoulder soreness) has been ruled out for Thursday’s Mavericks-Clippers game.
Irving will miss his first game since Dec. 1 in this Western Conference matchup. Spencer Dindwiddie and Quentin Grimes have a shot at forming a temporary starting backcourt for Dallas with both the Mavericks’ stars out.
  • DAL Power Forward #25
PJ Washington (illness) is expected to be back in the lineup for Sunday’s matchup with the Warriors.
Washington missed their last game with an illness, but he wasn’t mentioned when Jason Kidd shared the players that will be sidelined against Golden State. Barring a late change, his return will push Quentin Grimes back to the bench.
  • DAL Small Forward #13
Naji Marshall (illness) shot 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line in Tuesday’s loss to Oklahoma City, scoring 19 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
Having missed four games due to an illness that has recently affected multiple Mavericks, Marshall was said to be restricted to 20-25 minutes. He blew past that, with his play in the first half likely being a factor. Marshall scored 14 points in 15 minutes, and while he wasn’t as effective in the second half, this was an encouraging performance in Naji’s first game back. With PJ Washington (illness) sidelined, Quentin Grimes (4/3/2/1 in 17 minutes) received the starting nod but struggled. Marshall will be worth rostering if Washington is unavailable for Dallas’ next game, December 15 or 16, against the Warriors/Rockets loser.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #5
Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, and Dereck Lively II will start Tuesday’s game against the Thunder.
The Mavericks are without PJ Washington, who is out due to an illness. Even with Naji Marshall available for the first time in four games, Dallas will go small to start, with Grimes moving into the lineup. Marshall is limited to 20-25 minutes, which likely factored into Jason Kidd’s thinking when choosing Grimes to start.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #31
Klay Thompson struggled on Tuesday and finished with four points (1-of-5 FGs), two rebounds, three assists and one steal against Memphis.
After missing their last four games, Thompson returned to the lineup for this game, which pushed Quentin Grimes back to the bench. Grimes had scored at least 20 points in three straight games, but he wasn’t able to keep that going in this game. Thompson and Grimes each played 20 minutes, and it was Grimes that ended up being more productive. However, Spencer Dinwiddie (16/1/4) ended up logging 24 minutes and was part of the lineup that closed out this game. It has been a rough season for Thompson, but this was one of his worst performances of the year.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #31
Klay Thompson (left foot plantar fasciitis) has been upgraded to available for Tuesday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Quentin Grimes has been on a tear recently, but with Klay returning from a four-game absence, he’ll likely be pushed back to the bench. Grimes has earned more minutes, but his 20-point streak will likely come to an end with Thompson back.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #31
Klay Thompson (left foot plantar fasciitis) is questionable to play against Memphis on Tuesday.
Thompson has missed the team’s last four games, but he may return to the lineup on Tuesday. Quentin Grimes has been starting in his place and has scored at least 20 points in three straight games. However, Thompson’s return will likely push Grimes to the bench, even if he has been playing better than Thompson has all year.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #5
Quentin Grimes lit up Portland with 28 points (9-of-13 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, five steals and five 3-pointers on Sunday.
Grimes has been on a tear over the Mavs’ last three games. He has been part of the starting lineup during his last five appearances and in seven of his last nine. However, over his last three, he has averaged 24.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 4.7 threes while shooting 59.5% from the floor. He was dealt from Detroit in exchange for Tim Hardaway Jr. this summer, and he has thrived in his new home. Grimes may not remain in the starting unit when Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson get healthy, but he’s earned a larger role off the bench, and he’ll continue to put up big numbers until they’re back.
  • DAL Point Guard #11
According to Marc Stein, Kyrie Irving (right shoulder soreness) is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against Portland.
Initially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, Irving is trending toward not playing after logging 36 minutes on Saturday. Spencer Dinwiddie and Quentin Grimes are two players whose streaming values will increase in this spot, especially if Luka Doncic (wrist) also does not play.
