Otto Porter Jr. has announced his retirement from the NBA.
Porter Jr. was waived by the Jazz on Monday, and he announced his retirement about six hours later. He spent 11 years in the NBA after being drafted by the Wizards with the 3rd overall pick in 2013. He was an elite fantasy player from 2015-2019, but he hasn’t been as relevant in recent years. He won a championship with the Warriors in 2022 but only played 23 games for Toronto over the last two years since then. He didn’t make an appearance for Utah after being traded at the deadline.
  • FA Small Forward #22
Otto Porter Jr. was waived by the Jazz on Monday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
OPJ never appeared in a game for Utah, so this move has no impact on fantasy hoops. It’s unlikely Porter Jr. takes the court again this season.
  • UTA Small Forward #22
Otto Porter Jr. (not with team) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Hornets.
While Porter was made available for a potential Jazz debut on February 15 after being sidelined by a foot injury, the veteran forward did not play. His continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball, and it’s fair to wonder if Porter will see any action with the Jazz.
  • UTA Small Forward #22
Otto Porter Jr. (left foot soreness) is not on the injury report ahead of Thursday’s game against Golden State.
Porter Jr. will be available to make his debut for the Jazz on Thursday, but it isn’t clear if he’ll have a role. He isn’t a player to consider rostering in fantasy basketball.
  • UTA Small Forward #32
Otto Porter Jr. (left foot soreness) has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Warriors.
Porter will have to wait another game to make his Jazz debut. Also, he has not appeared in a game since December 30, so fantasy managers should not expect much from the veteran once he’s cleared to play.
  • UTA Small Forward #32
Otto Porter Jr. (left foot soreness) and Brice Sensabaugh (left hip soreness) are questionable for Monday’s game against the Warriors.
Porter, who was traded to the Jazz at the deadline, has not appeared in a game since December 30. Even if cleared to play, he’s unlikely to get the minutes needed to be of value in fantasy leagues. Sensabaugh has seen little playing time this season, but it will likely be a priority of the Jazz to get him more minutes, especially after the All-Star break.
  • UTA Point Guard #3
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Jazz have acquired Kira Lewis Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and a 2024 first-round pick from the Raptors in exchange for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji.
Lewis has been traded for the second time this season, as he was included in the three-team deal between the Pelicans, Raptors, and Knicks. The 2020 first-round pick hasn’t been in the rotation in Toronto, and that’s unlikely to change in Utah unless the Jazz trade at least one rotation guard (Jordan Clarkson?) before the 3 PM deadline. As for Porter, he’s been sidelined for most of this season due to injury, and his clock isn’t in line with that of the Jazz organization. This move will free up opportunities for first-round picks Brice Sensabaugh and Taylor Hendricks, so add those two to your watch lists. As for the first-round pick, it will be the least favorable of Clippers/Rockets/Jazz, according to Wojnarowski, likely falling in the late-20s.
  • TOR Small Forward #32
Otto Porter Jr. (right knee sprain) is available for Saturday’s game against the Knicks.
Porter has been cleared to play in a game for the first time since December 30. In 15 appearances this season, the veteran forward averages 11.6 minutes per game. Simply put, Porter is unlikely to get the minutes needed to be valuable in fantasy basketball.
  • TOR Small Forward #32
Otto Porter Jr. (right knee sprain) is now probable for Saturday’s game against the Knicks.
Porter is on track to play on Saturday after missing Toronto’s last ten games. His return would not significantly impact fantasy basketball, but minutes should be available after the Pascal Siakam trade.
  • TOR Small Forward #32
Otto Porter Jr. (right knee sprain) is questionable to play against the Knicks on Saturday.
Porter Jr. has been sidelined for the team’s last 10 games, but there is a chance that he returns to the lineup on Saturday. However, even if he is back, it is unlikely that he will provide any value in fantasy basketball.
