Paolo Banchero (return to competition conditioning) will not play in Sunday’s game against the Jazz.

Banchero has been out since October 30 with a torn oblique muscle. The change to “return to competition conditioning” is a sign the All-Star forward is getting closer to a return to game action. Banchero won’t be ready on Sunday, but it appears fantasy managers won’t have to wait much longer for the Magic star to play.

Gary Harris (left hamstring strain) is out for Sunday’s game against the Jazz.

Harris missed a month with a hamstring injury before returning for three games. Now he’s out again with the same injury. Harris isn’t being counted on for fantasy production this season. While his hamstring injury is concerning, it doesn’t significantly impact fantasy basketball.

Anthony Black (low back contusion) is questionable for Sunday’s game against Utah.

Black has missed Orlando’s last three games, with his most recent action occurring on December 27. If he can play on Sunday, the second-year point guard will figure prominently in the rotation, as Jalen Suggs (back) is out. Cole Anthony and Cory Joseph should also be in the rotation, with the latter taking the more significant hit if Black plays.

Suggs was injured during Friday’s win over Toronto, requiring a wheelchair to return to the locker room. He’ll miss at least one game, leaving the Magic even more shorthanded than they already were. Cole Anthony and Cory Joseph will play more minutes, especially if Anthony Black remains sidelined. While Anthony struggles with inefficiency, Orlando’s lack of healthy perimeter bodies makes him worth the streaming risk.

Goga Bitadze accumulated 11 points (3-of-9 FGs, 5-of-8 FTs), 13 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and three blocked shots in 30 minutes in Friday’s 106-97 win over the Raptors.

Finishing three assists shy of a triple-double, Bitadze has recorded a double-double in four of his last five outings. Providing top-50 per-game value in 9-cat formats over the past month, the 6-foot-11 center is rostered in 64% of Yahoo leagues. The better Bitadze plays, the more likely he’ll hold onto his place in the starting lineup when Paolo Banchero returns, with Wendell Carter Jr. heading to the bench.
Caleb Houstan

ORL Small Forward #2

Caleb Houstan shot 2-of-5 from the field in Friday’s win over Toronto, accounting for six points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block, and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes.

Magic coach Jamahl Mosley changed his starting lineup on Friday, promoting Houstan and moving Wendell Carter Jr. to the bench. While Houstan hit two 3-pointers and recorded a complete stat line, the value was modest. As for Carter, he played 18 minutes off the bench and finished with six points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one blocked shot. Houstan isn’t worth rostering, and if Carter is going to be the player who gets pulled for matchup reasons, he’s far less valuable than he’d be as a consistent starter.
Tristan da Silva

ORL Small Forward #23

Tristan da Silva amassed 25 points (9-of-13 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and five 3-pointers in 37 minutes in Friday’s 106-97 win over the Raptors.

After going scoreless in Wednesday’s loss to the Pistons, da Silva had the most productive night of his brief NBA career on Friday. The 25 points were a season-high, and the rookie was highly efficient in getting his points. Add in the rebounds and steals; this was an excellent night for da Silva. While the offensive output has been inconsistent, da Silva has shown flashes that make him worth the risk in deep leagues, especially with Orlando’s many injuries.
Jalen Suggs

ORL Point Guard #4

Jalen Suggs (back spasms) will not return to Friday’s game against the Raptors.

Suggs was injured during the second quarter when he attempted to pick off a pass. After remaining on the court for a few minutes, the Magic guard was taken to the locker room via wheelchair. With Anthony Black (back) already out, Cory Joseph has entered the rotation for a team decimated by injuries. Cole Anthony is the first player who fantasy managers should target if Suggs misses time.
Caleb Houstan

ORL Small Forward #2

Jalen Suggs, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Caleb Houstan, Tristan da Silva, and Goga Bitadze will start Friday’s game against the Raptors.

Houstan is the lone change to the Magic starting lineup, replacing Wendell Carter Jr. WCJ is available for Friday’s game, so the lineup change likely has more to do with the matchup (Jakob Poeltl is the only big in Toronto’s starting lineup) than anything else. Houstan hasn’t been much of a fantasy asset this season, so fantasy managers can afford to leave him alone.

Anthony Black (low back contusion) is out for Friday’s game against the Raptors.

Black is set to miss his third straight game with a back issue. Orlando will have their depth tested with the 20-year-old point guard out again, but the Magic don’t have any fantasy-relevant players stepping into the vacated minutes.
