On Friday, Omer Yurtseven agreed to a deal with Panathinaikos, the Greek club announced.
Yurtseven spent last season with the Jazz, who waived him in late June. In 48 games, the 7-footer averaged 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 11.4 minutes for Utah. While he went through a free-agent workout with the Knicks in mid-August, the team did not move to sign Yurtseven. He will head to Greece for the next chapter in his professional career on a two-year deal (including an option for the second season).

According to Marc Stein, the Knicks recently hosted free agent center Omer Yurtseven for a workout.
Waived by the Jazz in late June, Yurtseven averaged 11.4 minutes per game last season and failed to offer much fantasy value. According to Stein, while the Knicks did go through the step of working out the 7-footer, they ultimately decided not to sign him. It’s increasingly likely that the Knicks will head into training camp with Mitchell Robinson, Precious Achiuwa, and Jericho Sims as their primary options at center. While boasting a significant injury history, Robinson can provide top-100 fantasy value when available.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Jazz will waive Omer Yurtseven.
Yurtseven logged just 11.4 minutes per game in his only season with Utah, though he was productive when given substantial playing time. In five games with at least 25 minutes played, the seven-footer averaged 11.4 points, 11.4 boards, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks. He grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in Utah’s season finale.

Omer Yurtseven accounted for 11 points, 18 rebounds and two assists across 30 minutes in Sunday’s loss to Golden State.
Yurtseven averaged just over four points, four boards and 11 minutes per contest this season for Utah, though a number of key frontcourt injuries opened up a starting gig for him over final two weeks of the campaign. Yurtseven started Utah’s last six games and averaged 10.9 points and 9.7 rebounds, delivering his best performance of the season in the finale. Yurtseven pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to end the season on a high note, and he was one of Utah’s lone bright spots in the loss. He should continue to operate as a backup big no matter where he plays in 2024-25.

Walker Kessler (nasal fracture) will not play against the Warriors on Sunday.
Kessler will remain sidelined for the final game of the season, which will allow Omer Yurtseven to remain in the starting center spot. This will be a sixth straight absence for Kessler to end a disappointing season for the second-year big.

Omer Yurtseven recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 20 points (9-of-14 FGs), 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal against the Nuggets.
Yurtseven hadn’t been productive in his first six starts of the season, but he had a big night in this one. He set a new season-high for scoring and had his first double-double of the year. This was his third straight start, and he averaged 10 points and seven rebounds in the first two. He should start their final three games of the year, and he’ll have some value on Thursday with only five games being played. However, managers shouldn’t expect this level of production from him.

Omer Yurtseven will start at center for Friday’s matchup with the Clippers.
With John Collins and Walker Kessler out, Yurtseven will step into the starting five. In six starts this season, he’s averaged 6.0 points, 8.7 boards and 1.0 block across 21.0 minutes. He’s worth a look for fantasy managers in need of swats and boards.
  • UTA Power Forward #20
John Collins (back spasms) and Walker Kessler (nasal fracture) have been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Clippers.
Collins will remain sidelined for another game, while Kessler sits after suffering a fractured nose during Tuesday’s loss to the Cavaliers. Due to the absences, fantasy managers should target Omer Yurtseven, who played 30 minutes on Tuesday.

Omer Yurtseven started the second half on Tuesday and finished with 11 points (5-of-10 FGs), six rebounds, two assists and one block against Cleveland.
After Walker Kessler exited with a nasal fracture, Yurtseven started the second half in his place. He didn’t provide much statistically, but he did log 30 minutes. Assuming that Kessler remains sidelined after this game, Yurtseven should take over as the starting center. He was a solid rebounder when he started a few games earlier this season, but he wasn’t able to provide much else. They don’t play again until Friday, and there are 12 games being played that day. Even if Yurtseven moves into the starting lineup, there will likely be more effective options.

Walker Kessler (nasal fracture) will not return to Tuesday’s game against Cleveland.
Kessler will not return for the second half of this game, which will allow for Omer Yurtseven to fill out the center minutes. Since it is a fracture for Kessler, he may end up missing time moving forward. Yurtseven could be worth streaming, though he didn’t produce much value in 14 first half minutes.
