Two days prior on their home court, the Boston Celtics had an ugly, frustrating loss to the Chicago Bulls, one that saw coach Joe Mazzulla having to be held back from going at the referees (and picking up a $35,000 fine for his troubles).

Saturday night in the second game of the home-and-home series, Boston went into Chicago and Jayson Tatum made sure that wouldn’t happen again, dropping a 43-point triple-double on the Bulls.

Tatum joins Larry Bird as the only Celtics with 40-point triple-doubles in the franchise’s storied history.

Boston will play on Christmas Day against the 76ers, a game that looked much better on paper before the season started than it plays out now.
