Jalen Brunson — with heating pads on his body while he kept warm on a bike in the tunnel — waited his turn. Then he came out and showed why Knicks fans love how he plays.

Brunson took over late — including scoring nine in overtime — to score 55 points and lead the Knicks to a come-from-behind win against the Wizards.

Brunson had just 13 points at halftime but took over after the break dropping 42.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 30 points and 14 rebounds for the Knicks, who have now won seven straight. This was their first overtime game of the season. Justin Champagnie, who is quietly having a nice breakout season in Washington, scored a career-high 31 points with 10 rebounds.

It wasn’t pretty for either team, but for a Knicks team eyeing a high seed in the East, this kind of ugly win is the kind they need occasionally.
