Vince Carter asked Hawks’ Mike Scott about his emoji tattoos during a game

Mike Scott of the Atlanta Hawks isn’t unlike a lot of NBA players, in that he has plenty of visible tattoos covering his arms.

But where Scott differs is with his artistic choices.

Scott has a variety of emojis -- those smiley faces you use while texting -- all over his body, and though he’s been in the league for two seasons now, the look is unusual enough to draw the attention of opposing players, who may or may not seek clarification during live game action.

From Sam Laird of Mashable:

Do you get many comments on the court from other players?

Actually just the other day — Vince Carter. I have that lips emoji on my neck and he was asking me during the game if that was a specific lady’s lips or whose lips or what. I said ‘No, it’s no one’s lips. It’s just the emoji lips.’

Vince is getting pretty old though. Do you think he really got it?

[Laughs] I mean, I don’t think he understood they were emojis. Obviously I didn’t have time to sit there and explain the whole emoji thing in the middle of the game. I just told him, ‘Nah, nah, it’s no one’s lips, and kept going with the game.

The (absurd) conversation evidently took place on Saturday, when the Hawks were in Memphis to face Carter’s Grizzlies.
