The Pelicans have lost a good chunk of their rotation to injuries in training camp, including Omer Asik, Norris Cole and Alexis Ajinca. Jrue Holiday is still on a minutes limit and Quincy Pondexter still isn’t back. Add Tyreke Evans to the list. On Tuesday, he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, and on Wednesday, head coach Alvin Gentry told reporters that he’ll be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
From the Times Picayune‘s John Reid:New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans is expected to be out six to eight weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday for the second time since May, Alvin Gentry told reporters on Wednesday.
If Evans takes the full eight weeks to fully recover, he would not return until early December. If it takes six weeks, Evans would likely miss the first 14 games before returning around Nov. 23.This is a huge setback for the Pelicans, who are extremely short on healthy guards with Holiday and Cole still hurt. Eric Gordon is the healthiest backcourt player on their roster right now, which isn’t something you ever thought you’d say. It’s too bad, because this Pelicans roster is talented and fun when healthy. They can just never get all the way healthy.
