Scottie Pippen to enter Hall of Fame with Jordan introduction

Could it really have been any other way?

Friday night Scottie Pippen will rightfully take his place along side the game’s all-time greats in the Hall of Fame. He will be introduced at the induction ceremony by Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan was enshrined last year. We can only hope that his introduction speech for Pippen is as entertaining as his induction speech last year. Jeff Van Gundy and Bryon Russell take cover.

Pippen is getting a second introduction, and Jordan a second as well, as part of the 1992 Dream Team. That was the team that changed how America dealt with its Olympians, sending our best professionals not just college kids. (Much like the also-to-be-inducted 1960 team changed who we sent from AAU kids to college players.)

Pippen is rarely mentioned without Jordan. His career and profile was both helped and overshadowed by Jordan. People asked why LeBron James would want to go to Miami and “be Pippen,” as if being a guy with six rings and one of the 50 greatest players of all time was somehow an insult. Pippen is an all-time great getting his just rewards. And MJ welcoming him to the hall just seems fitting.
