We’re a little more than two weeks away from All-Star weekend in New York City, which means all of the participants for the various events will be finalized in the coming days.
A few of the names have already leaked as far as the Dunk Contest goes, and now it appears as though we have five of the six contestants confirmed for the Three-Point Contest.
From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:The Golden State Warriors’ backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson plan to participate in the NBA’s three-point shooting contest during All-Star Weekend in New York, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Atlanta’s Kyle Korver, Portland’s Wesley Matthews, and the Los Angeles Clippers’J.J. Redick are among the six players set for the contest on Feb. 14 at the Barclays Center, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
As for who might get that last spot, guys like Bradley Beal (sixth in percentage this season, participated last year), Damian Lillard and James Harden (second and third in the league in attempts this season) are some names to watch. Mike Conley of the Grizzlies might be another one, considering he’s unlikely to make the All-Star team despite being deserving, and he’s 11th in the league in percentage this season.
Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $250,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Tuesday’s NBA games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $25,000. Starts at 7pm ET on Tuesday. Here’s the FanDuel link.
While Curry, Klay and Korver seem like they’d be the heavy favorites, it’s worth remembering that the best overall shooters don’t always fare well in the unorthodox format of the contest; Marco Belinelli was your winner in 2014.
