The Prigioni move is pretty minor for Houston, but it saves the Knicks some money. The 37-year-old Argentine point guard has a $290,000 guarantee on his contract for next season, while Shved comes off the books.
McDaniels is a much more intriguing piece for the Rockets, an athletic wing who plays both sides of the ball. It makes sense that he was on Houston’s radar since Philly’s GM, Sam Hinkie, is a Morey disciple and they’ve generally taken the same asset-based approach to team-building.
McDaniels will most likely come off the bench behind Trevor Ariza at small forward. He’s not a great shooter, but he can score in transition and is a solid defender. The Rockets didn’t give up much, so it’s a worthwhile look at an intriguing young talent who will be a restricted free agent this summer.
The Sixers got more picks, because that’s what the Sixers do.
