The Pelicans reportedly believe they’ll lose Ryan Anderson in free agency this summer.
If that’s the case, this was a big missed opportunity.
Marc Stein of ESPN:
Less than 10 minutes to go before the trade deadline and the much, much pursued Ryan Anderson is staying put in New Orleans

The Pelicans are going nowhere this season. They’re 20-33 – six games and four teams out of playoff position.
The only thing Anderson can help them accomplish the rest of the season is lose lottery position.
He would have fit many teams, including the reportedly interested Cavaliers, who sent a second-rounder to the Magic for Channing Frye. I can’t speak for Cleveland, but I’d prefer Anderson to Frye.
A second-rounder isn’t much, but it’s better than the Pelicans would’ve gotten if Anderson walks in free agency.
And I wouldn’t assume that was New Orleans’ best offer.
