Beginning on Monday, NBA teams will be able to sign players to 10-day contracts, and Elijah Millsap looks to be the first call-up. RealGM.com’s Shams Charania reports that the Utah Jazz are lining up a 10-day contract for the guard:

Elijah Millsap has passed his physical exam with the Utah Jazz and will be called up from the NBA Development League on a 10-day contract, a league source told RealGM on Sunday.

In his season with Bakersfield of the D-League, Millsap – the brother of Atlanta Hawks star Paul Millsap – is averaging 20.6 point, 8.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists a game.

The Jazz know the Millsap family well. Elijah’s brother, Paul, played the first seven years of his career in Utah before joining the Hawks in 2013. Elijah has yet to play in a regular-season game, never making a roster out of training camp. He has previously been in camp with the Thunder (2010), Lakers (2011) and Bucks (2014).

After Millsap’s 10-day contract is up, the Jazz can sign him to a second 10-day contract before deciding whether to keep him for the season or let him go. Look for a flurry of 10-day contracts in the next few weeks as teams attempt to fill out their rosters and try out new talent.
