Paul George plans to participate in Team USA minicamp

Indiana Pacers v Chicago Bulls

Paul George isn’t sure whether he’ll play for the Pacers this season.

But after suffering his horrific leg injury in a USA Basketball scrimmage, George knows he’ll return to Team USA.

That starts with an August minicamp.

John Schuhmann of NBA.com:

when asked about the mini-camp, he was clear that he intends to be there.

“I’m in,” George said. “Of course.”

George has a spot guaranteed for the 2016 Olympics, so he could blow off this camp. But that’s not the type of competitor he is. He wants to remain part of the American basketball program, and that includes this minicamp.

Whether or not he plays a few games late this season, next season is the soonest we’ll see George looking like himself on the court. Like Derrick Rose did with last summer’s World Cup, George can use this minicamp to help prepare himself.
