After 14 seasons in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever, Tamika Catchings is hanging it up at the end of the 2016 season. Paul George wants to make sure she has a sellout crowd for her final regular-season game on Sunday, so he bought 5,000 tickets and will give them away to fans outside of Bankers’ Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. From the Fever’s press release:

Indiana Pacers star, Olympic gold medalist and three-time NBA All-Star Paul George has bolstered franchise efforts to honor legendary WNBA star and fellow Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings with the purchase of 5,000 balcony seats to Catchings’ final regular season game presented by Hoosier Lottery on Sunday, September 18. Catchings and the Indiana Fever host the Dallas Wings in a regular season finale Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

In an effort to pack the house and cap Catchings’ career with a hopeful sellout crowd, complimentary tickets will be distributed to fans on Friday afternoon at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box Office. Fans may collect up to a maximum four tickets per person beginning at noon on Friday at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box Office.

This is a great gesture by George and a fitting tribute to one of the best women’s basketball players ever.
