Russell Westbrook left Friday’s double-overtime win over the Raptors with a knee injury that didn’t look good at all, and the fact that he did not return had fans fearing the worst.
He told reporters he didn’t expect to miss any time before leaving the arena without a brace, however, and an MRI on Saturday confirmed that diagnosis.
From Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman:After an MRI and clinical exam, it was determined that no issues of concern resulted from Westbrook’s knee-to-knee contact with Raptors guard Kyle Lowry last night.
Moving forward, the Thunder will continue to monitor Westbrook’s minutes and rest him on one night of its back-to-backs. OKC plays Denver at home on Monday and the Mavericks in Dallas on Tuesday. Westbrook is expected to play in one of those games and rest in the other.The plan all along has been to rest Westbrook for one of the games in a back-to-back set, so that doesn’t change -- and neither do the playoff chances of the Thunder now that it’s been confirmed that Westbrook came away from this latest injury scare unscathed.
