This could be fun: Deron Williams vs. Michael Carter-Williams.

Looks like we will get to see it because Michael Carter-Williams is set to return to the Sixers lineup Friday night after missing seven straight games with a knee infection.

Officially he is a game time decision — because teams like to keep their options open — but he is expected to play, reports Dei Lynam of CSNPhilly.com. She spoke to MCW after his last practice and he sounded ready to go.

“I have had two good practices,” Carter-Williams said. “I felt good. I was shooting after, so I am ready to go.”

Carter-Williams is pretty much the only reason to watch the 76ers right now, the real beacon of hope for the future on this team. He has averaged 17.7 points and 7.3 assists per game, plus has played good defense at the point for Philly. He’s not an efficient scorer yet (he needs a better three ball, for example) but you can see the makings of a very good point guard in him. The Sixers need him back.

The Nets have won four of their last six and with the return of Deron Williams they have started to look like a better, more dangerous team (not what some predicted preseason, but better). Their backcourt of D-Will and Joe Johnson is a harsh “welcome back” for Carter-Williams to face.

But at least we will get to see him take it on. Hopefully he can stay healthy and on the court for a long while.
