Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested in Los Angeles Tuesday on an outstanding warrant related to a casino debt in Las Vegas, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The Mavericks were in town between taking on the Lakers and Clippers. Armstrong was pulled over for a traffic violation in Marina Del Rey and the warrant came up on the police computer. He was arrested then released Wednesday on $40,000 bail, according to the Times.

We do not yet have the details on the original charges out of Nevada.

Armstrong played 14 years in the NBA, most with the Orlando Magic but also with the Nets, Mavericks, Hornets and Pacers. He was the 1999 NBA Sixth man of the Year and Most Improved Player. After retiring in 2008 he became an assistant coach on the Mavericks staff.
