LeBron James is “highly upset” he’s never won Defensive Player of the Year

2016 NBA Finals - Game Four

No matter what happens tonight, there’s a good case that LeBron James should win Finals MVP. He’s been that good, especially over the last two games as the Cavaliers have clawed their way back from a 3-1 deficit to force a Game 7 with the Warriors. But that’s not the award James is concerned about — he’s got four MVPs and two Finals MVPs, but there’s one award missing.

James’ window to win Defensive Player of the Year has all but certainly closed — he’s taken several steps back on that end, especially as he’s gotten older and started to coast in the regular season to preserve his body for the playoffs. But he had a legitimate case several years ago, particularly during his first three seasons in Miami.
