The Kings trading for Wayne Ellington and Jeremy Tyler was purely about salary-cap management.
Ellington has already been stretched, and Tyler – whose minimum salary is fully unguaranteed until Sept. 15 – will soon be cut, too.
Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee:
Not sure if this was out there while I was off, but Jeremy Tyler, acquired in the Outlaw/Acy deal, will be waived at some point.

Keith Schlosse of TheKnicksBlog:
Dropping Tyler will bring the Kings to 15 players, including Omri Casspi, who has yet to officially sign but will. That list also includes three undrafted players Sacramento signed to small or no guarantees – shot-blocker Eric Moreland, 7-foot-5 Sim Bhullar and speedy guard Deonte Burton.
The Kings could still waive any or all of those three and add veterans, but there’s room to compete for a roster spot. Maybe Sacramento finally realizes trying to win now in the loaded Western Conference is futile, and a little rebuilding – like trying to unearth a diamond in the rough – is the best course.
