Tiny Gallon’s NBA prospects have been touch-and-go for awhile now, but the Milwaukee Bucks have finally cut him -- along with Billy Rush and Tory Jackson -- from their preseason roster, according to The Hoops Market.
Milwaukee selected Gallon with the 47th pick in this year’s draft, but the additions of Drew Gooden, Jon Brockman, Larry Sanders, and Darington Hobson (who was also selected by the Bucks in the second round, but has already signed a deal) to the already existing core of Bucks forwards (Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Ersan Ilyasova) made Gallon a bit redundant. Compound that fact with a poor summer league showing and a questionable NBA skill set, and it’s not all that surprising the Bucks said “Bon voyage!”
We know that Gallon can hit mid-range looks as a spot-up shooter, but his stroke isn’t pure enough to act as a meal ticket; with concerns over his rebounding, low post viability, and conditioning, Gallon had something to prove in summer league and training camp, and wasn’t persuasive enough. It’s not any kind of monumental failure, just a team taking a closer look at a prospect, opting to pass, shaking hands and both parties going on their merry way.
