Mirza Teletovic has officially retired from basketball.
He’ll still be involved with the game, however, as he’s agreed to become president of the Bosnian Basketball Federation. The veteran forward finishes his NBA career with averages of 8.1 points, 1.7 triples and 3.2 rebounds over six seasons with the Nets, Suns and Bucks.

Coach Avery Johnson said that Mirza Teletovic will play both power forward and center for the Nets.
Johnson also added that the team is looking to bring in a backup center and backup small forward, but Teletovic is not going to be exclusively used as a power forward to begin his NBA career. Despite the team re-signing Kris Humphries, Teletovic should be an integral cog of the rotation during his rookie season.

Andray Blatche has agreed in principle to a one-year contract at the veteran minimum with the Brooklyn Nets, Marc Spears of Yahoo! reports.
This story has been brewing for quite some time and it looks like the Nets were willing to take a chance on Blatche. The Nets have an improved roster and the former Wizard will battle Mirza Teletovic for bench minutes at power forward. Blatche has gone on hot stretches before, so he might be someone to watch in training camp.

Mirza Teletovic is averaging 23.6 points during the EuroBasket qualifying tournament, with 6.0 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
Teletovic is the go-to guy for Bosnia and Herzegovina -- he’ll play a reserve PF/C role with the Nets as a rookie, but he’s a polished scorer with 3-point range who makes for an interesting fantasy sleeper. Keep an eye on him during the preseason.

Mirza Teletovic, a 6'9" PF from Bosnia, will reportedly leave his Spanish team to sign a deal with the Cavaliers or Nets this summer.
DraftExpress.com has some great intel on Teletovic, and the general impression is not positive. He has 3-point range but is reportedly a weak defender and a poor rebounder. “Brian Cardinal & Brian Scalabrine carved out 10-year careers in the NBA with much less talent,” writes DX’s Jonathan Givony, “so maybe Mirza Teletovic can too.”
  • MIL Small Forward #35
Mirza Teletovic, who has agreed to a three-year contract with the Nets, is reportedly being ‘penciled in’ as the team’s starting power forward.
The Nets seem quite unlikely to retain Kris Humphries or pursue another PF in free agency at this point, and fantasy owners should keep a close eye on Teletovic during training camp and the preseason. He’s not known as a good defender or rebounder, but he has good size and intriguing offensive skills -- for instance, he made 43.1 percent of his 3-pointers in the Euroleague last season.

Nets sign PF Mirza Teletovic to three-year contract.
Billy King has called him one of the premier power forwards in Europe and he could end up starting at PF since it doesn’t appear likely the Nets will re-sign Kris Humphries.

Nets coach Avery Johnson plans to meet with Andray Blatche in Houston this weekend, as Brooklyn may be interested in signing the free agent big man.
Blatche was amnestied by the Wizards and will make $23.3 million over the next three years whether or not he leaves his couch, but he’s said that his “dream destination” is any team that will get him “back on the court playing ball.” He’s also open to signing for the veteran’s minimum, and could be a low-cost, high-upside addition for Brooklyn, where Reggie Evans can do his best to whip Blatche into shape.

The Nets and Mirza Teletovic’s agent are working to move from a full MLE ($5 million) to a mini-MLE ($3.09 million), which would preserve Brooklyn’s cap flexibility.
This is important because it keeps Dwight Howard-to-the-Nets in play, as signing Teletovic for less money will mean the Nets avoid the $74.3 million hard. Had they hit that threshold, they would have been taken out of the Dwight race. Of course, none of this can become official until July 11, so things could change again between now and then. Teletovic is a great 3-point shooter, but will struggle in other areas of his game.

Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez both said that the Nets intend to win a championship this year, despite being tied with Minnesota for the worst record in the NBA over the past three seasons.
The Nets also aren’t shying away from a crosstown rivalry with the Knicks, whom they play on opening night in Brooklyn, Nov. 1. The Nets’ starting five (Deron Williams, Johnson, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries and Lopez) will dominate minutes and fantasy value for Brooklyn, but we’ll be keeping an eye on young reserves MarShon Brooks and Mirza Teletovic during the preseason.
