Harpring had season-ending surgery on the same knee last season, but said this injury feels different. He has been starting while Carlos Boozer’s foot mends.

Quite a difference from Stockton and Malone. Harpring is currently the only reliable fantasy option, though Stevenson will be counted on to score while Collins and Arroyo could surprise.

Rest has not helped Matt Harpring’s knee soreness, and surgery appears more imminent.

Harpring received “some good advice” from Dr. Richard Steadman yesterday in Colorado, but said he would “sleep on it” before making an ultimate decision. Surgery could mean anywhere from a 6-week to 6-month absence for Harpring.

Harpring keeps playing through knee injuries. Leave him active this week if you normally would, but be aware the Jazz are about to get Jarron Collins and Andrei Kirilenko back.

Harpring was hurt in the third quarter when he step on an opponent’s foot. He returned to play in the fourth quarter but stayed in the training room for treatment long after the final buzzer.

We assume the Jazz just didn’t feel the need to play Harpring on back-to-back days right now. He made it through Tuesday’s game OK.

Unless the Jazz go big and start him at shooting guard, Matt Harpring will open the season coming off the bench.

The team is more likely to use Gordan Giricek at shooting guard and make Harpring the No. 3 forward behind Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer. Harpring may not be worth using in fantasy leagues unless a teammate goes down.
