Louis Amundson was hindered by finger and back issues last season, but says he’s healthy and ready to go whenever the new season starts.
“That’s difficult when you want to play and play at a high level and your body just won’t let you,” he said recently. “With the finger and the back, it was a tough season. Obviously I want to stay healthy this year.” Amundson is nothing more than a role player for Golden State, making him a long shot to have fantasy value.

Lou Amundson had eight points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in Wednesday’s win over Charlotte.
The Pacers cleared the bench tonight and allowed the regulars to get some rest heading into the All-Star break. In other words, ignore this line from Amundson.
  • PHI Center #34
Roy Hibbert was helped from the floor with an ankle injury during the first half of Monday’s game and his return is questionable.
X-rays were taken and while the results don’t sound like they’re available, Hibbert is on the floor and we’ll be watching him.
  • CHA Power Forward #50
Tyler Hansbrough followed up his 19-point outing on Sunday with eight points and seven rebounds in 15 minutes on Tuesday.
Hansbrough hit 2-of-6 shots and added a steal in 15 minutes. He was marginalized by Lou Amundson (21 points, eight rebounds), which is both an excuse and indictment at the same time. Hansbrough needs to post another productive line before we give him any love.
  • NYK Center #17
Lou Amundson recorded his first double-double of the season on Saturday, notching 11 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 16 minutes off the Pacers’ bench.
It seems Amundson will flirt with 20 minutes per game on nights when Jeff Foster’s back keeps him out of action. This situation is only worth monitoring in deep leagues.
  • NYK Center #17
Louis Amundson came out of nowhere to score a career-high 21 points in the Pacers’ easy 92-75 win over the slumping Blazers, hitting 10-of-11 shots from the field with eight rebounds and one block in 23 minutes off the bench.
It’s always great to hear a player like Amundson get ‘MVP’ chants, but it’s the most recent black eye for a Blazers franchise that claims to be behind embattled coach Nate McMillan. As for Amundson, this is about as fluky as it gets and we’ll need to see much, much more before paying him any attention.
  • NYK Center #17
Louis Amundson will remain Roy Hibbert’s backup when Kyrylo Fesenko is cleared to play.
Fesenko will only play if there is an injury to someone along the frontline, and his signing was more of an insurance policy than anything else. This news should not impact your fantasy team.
  • UTA Center #44
Kyrylo Fesenko is unlikely to play against the Magic in the first round.
Without Dwight Howard (back) in the lineup for Orlando, Frank Vogel has been using Lou Amundson as Roy Hibbert’s primary backup. “Right now he’s depth and insurance,” Frank Vogel said.
  • LAC Power Forward #19
Larry Bird admitted that Jeff Pendergraph could see more minutes at center going forward.
The Pacers didn’t add a backup big man before the trade deadline, leaving Lou Amundson and Pendergraph as the sole backups behind Roy Hibbert with Jeff Foster (back) remaining out indefinitely. “Jeff is a banger. He knows how to play,” Bird said. Neither Amundson nor Pendergraph are on the fantasy radar.
  • NYK Center #17
Lou Amundson is intent on carving out a bigger role with the Warriors this year, and thinks his defensive prowess will help.
“Going into this knowing the emphasis he’s going to put on defense, that’s something I really believe in,” Amundson said. He’ll come off the bench and isn’t likely to help fantasy owners in a limited role, though his per-minute block totals are impressive (0.8 blocks in 13 minutes per game).
