Latrell Sprewell said that if the Wolves don’t sign him to an extension before the Nov. 3 season opener, it could lead to “potential problems” down the road.
Hopefully those problems won’t involve choking. If the talks drag past the season opener, Sprewell will be reluctant to continue negotiations, and instead will ask for a sign-and-trade deal or wait to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Latrell Sprewell won’t play tonight after having his leg and ankle kicked in Thursday’s game.
Sprewell was limited in practice yesterday.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell was limited to 27 minutes Sunday because of a sore back.
At one point in the fourth quarter, the coaches switched Wally Szczerbiak onto Mike Bibby because Sprewell was having trouble keeping up. Monitor this situation, as Spree sometimes has a hard time staying motivated for a full game even when he’s 100 percent.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell was too sore to practice Friday after playing 30 minutes in his return from an ankle sprain in the last game.
His status for Sunday’s game against Washington is uncertain.

Owner Glen Taylor said there is only one circumstance in which he would trade Latrell Sprewell, and that is if the players the Wolves got in return would be pending free agents who wouldn’t count in the 2005-2006 salary cap.
Taylor wasn’t happy that Sprewell engaged in a bout of name calling with coach Flip Saunders when Saunders took him out during Monday’s game.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell and Troy Hudson are a combined 0-for-21 from 3-point range over the last two games.
Desperation has coach Flip Saunders considering limiting the number of threes his team shoots, but that would be a hasty decision. Sprewell and Hudson are good shooters and could get hot at any time now.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell (Achilles) is expected to make his debut Monday.
The Timberwolves haven’t had their top six players together yet this preseason. Coach Flip Saunders hopes Wally Szczerbiak and Michael Olowokandi will play before the exhibition season concludes next week.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell has been limited in practice with tendinitis in his heel.
Spree is day-to-day. The injury isn’t serious.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell practiced but is likely to sit out against the Pacers to see how his sore left Achilles responds.
Sprewell remains day-to-day, while Sam Cassell, Fred Hoiberg and Mark Madsen, all of whom missed Wednesday’s game, should be available.
  • MIN Small Forward
Latrell Sprewell was absent from his new team’s media day yesterday.
The reason for Sprewell’s absence was unknown. Owner Glen Taylor said Thursday that Sprewell was driving from his hometown of Milwaukee at the same time the Wolves’ media day was going on. It’s uncertain if the team will fine him. Nothing like making a good first impression.
