Iman Shumpert (knee) and Josh Harrellson (wrist) are both active for the Knicks on Wednesday.
Shumpert will play off the bench but it’s unclear whether Harrellson will see any action in his first game back on the active roster. Unfortunately for Shumpert, the arrival of J.R. Smith has seriously dampened his fantasy outlook.

Josh Harrellson (wrist) could be back as soon as Wednesday, according to coach Mike D’Antoni.
Harrellson has been out since fracturing his wrist on Jan. 21. Amare Stoudemire’s direct backup was averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes before going down.

Josh Harrellson (wrist) will return to practice Tuesday.
Harrellson has been medically cleared and appears on track to be active for Wednesday’s game against the Cavs. The second-round rookie will serve as insurance behind Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.
  • DEN Power Forward #1
Jared Jeffries will miss two weeks with inflammation in his right knee.
Jeffries is an undervalued defensive presence and glue-guy for the Knicks, but the good news is an MRI didn’t find any structural damage. Mike Woodson said his absence will force other players to step up for the Knicks, and he specifically named Josh Harrellson.
  • WAS Center #55
Josh Harrellson started and scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with nine rebounds and two blocks against the worst team in NBA history in the Bobcats on Thursday.
We’re poking fun at the Bobcats, but Harrellson is always a candidate for some points, boards, and threes if he’s getting heavy minutes. If that happens during the playoffs, the Knicks won’t be playing for long. Mike Bibby started for Baron Davis and scored three points with 12 assists, Iman Shumpert was quiet all night until exploding late for 12 points, Landry Fields posted six points, five boards, and seven assists, and Steve Novak hit three treys for nine points with six rebounds.
  • WAS Center #55
Josh Harrellson started in place of Tyson Chandler (hamstring) Wednesday and had eight points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block as the Knicks lost to the Spurs.
Chandler could miss another game or two with the injury, so owners in real deep leagues might want to give Harrellson a short-term look if the waiver wire is bare.
  • NBA Center #19
Tyson Chandler (hamstring) has been ruled out on Friday against the Bucks.
Chandler had previously hinted that he’d be out on Friday, and it’s looking like he’ll be sidelined for the second straight game. Josh Harrellson started in his place on Wednesday and had eight points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block in 22 minutes, but Amare Stoudemire will likely draw the start at center as the Knicks transition to a smaller lineup with Chandler out.

The Knicks will likely go with a smaller lineup on Friday with Amare Stoudemire starting at center.
Josh Harrellson started at center in place of Tyson Chandler (hamstring) on Wednesday, and with Chandler likely out again, the Knicks will shift things around with the hope of getting back on track against Milwaukee.

Amare Stoudemire is out indefinitely with a bulging back disc, and Jeremy Lin (knee) will miss Monday’s game and is listed as day-to-day.
Uh oh. This doesn’t sound good at all and we’re hearing reports that his regular season is in question. Josh Harrellson is now on the fantasy radar, but it’s likely that the team limits his minutes and turns to a smaller lineup with Carmelo Anthony at PF. We’ll get a bit of skewed look at this against the now up-tempo Bucks, not to mention Jeremy Lin being out, but the glut of wings including Landry Fields, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert now have an opening. We’ll see who breaks out, while Toney Douglas and Baron Davis, who is on a minutes-limit, will vie for value at the point.

Amare Stoudemire is heading to Miami to see a consultant that worked on his back earlier in the year, and CBSSports.com reports that an answer could come Tuesday about whether or not he needs season-ending surgery.
All owners can do is sit and cross their fingers, and we wouldn’t pass on a hot free agent unless you’re totally stashing for the last week or two of the season. Even then, we don’t think this situation is going to end well. A best-case scenario looks like a return a week or so before the playoffs. Josh Harrellson scored three points in 13 minutes, and it appears Amare’s minutes will be absorbed evenly by a smaller lineup.
