Davis

O’Brien is growing more enamored of Davis, a former CBA MVP and standout player at Wyoming. His strengths are his 3-point shooting (7-of-14 on the season) and shot blocking, where he’s second to Theo Ratliff in Wyoming history.

It’s hard to imagine Davis starting the season with a significant role in Philadelphia.

He appeared in four games last season as a member of the Hawks.

Newly acquired Marreese Speights didn’t play tonight, but will soon, while Josh Davis had five points and five boards off the Grizzlies bench. Speights has a chance to get nice run in Randolph’s absence, but chances are guys like Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay and Mike Conley will pick up much of the slack.

Davis was released prior to the deadline for contracts to become fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season. GM Chris Wallace didn’t rule out bringing Davis back on a 10-day contract later this season.

Davis, briefly a starter for the Sixers, had played one minute over the last three games.

Davis, the MVP of the CBA last season, hadn’t played more than 10 minutes in a game for the Sixers. He’s not yet someone to consider picking up in fantasy leagues.

Davis got into early foul trouble tonight and played just 11 minutes. It won’t be long before he returns to acting as the Sixers’ third power forward.

Davis hadn’t scored in three brief appearances this month.
