Shelden Williams (eye) will be out until at least April 5 with a right eye injury.
There are no details available for Williams other than the fact that he has a “right eye injury.” Avery Johnson said he was “really concerned” about Williams after he was taken to the hospital following his injury. With Shelden Williams and Jordan Williams (concussion) both hurt, Johan Petro will be forced into some serious minutes moving forward.
  • Jordan Williams left Wednesday’s game with concussion-like symptoms.
Shelden Williams left earlier with an eye injury, as the Nets are running out of big men. In other words, it’s Johan Petro time, although he’s probably not good enough to be grabbed in fantasy leagues.
  • Nets coach Avery Johnson said the team is “really concerned” about Shelden Williams, who was taken to the hospital after leaving Wednesday night’s game with a right eye injury.
Williams was hit in the eye by the Pacers Tyler Hansbrough, and ran off the court immediately and headed straight for the locker room. The Nets PR staff have said they will have no further updates on Williams until Thursday, and we will update you once we know more. Big man Jordan Williams also got hurt tonight, so Johan Petro could suddenly become a relevant fantasy player.
  • ATL Center #10
Johan Petro had four points, five rebounds, and a block on Wednesday, but the bigger story is the fact that both Shelden and Jordan Williams went down with injuries.
Shelden went down with a right eye injury in the second quarter and had to be taken to the hospital, while Jordan left in the third quarter due to concussion-like symptoms. With Brook Lopez out, Petro looks to be the only healthy big man left, outside of Kris Humphries. If both Williams’ miss significant time, Petro should start and see heavy minutes. However, owners shouldn’t rush to pick him up, as he’s averaging just five points and three rebounds in six starts this season.
  • Shelden Williams (eye) has been officially named the starting center for the Nets on Friday night.
Williams is dealing with a bruised retina and scratched cornea, but is officially back as the starter for the Nets. S-Will is averaging 5.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game as the starting center. Johan Petro will move back to the second unit.
  • ATL Center #10
Johan Petro moved back to the bench on Friday, playing just four minutes.
Needless to say, Petro can go back to the waiver wire where he belongs.
  • Shelden Williams (eye) is expected to play on Friday against the Wizards.
He had a bruised retina and a scratched cornea, so Williams will wear protective goggles in his return to the court. He’s averaging 5.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks as the starting center, a role he will immediately resume on Friday.
  • ATL Center #10
Johan Petro made another start at center Tuesday but missed all eight of his shots, failing to score and finishing with six rebounds and zero blocks in the loss to the Lakers.
Even without Andrew Bynum around, Petro couldn’t get it going. Keep an eye on him though, as he had 12 points and a full stat line on Saturday.
  • Jordan Williams double-doubled in the Nets’ blowout loss to the Raptors on Thursday, scoring 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting with 10 rebounds and a block.
The Nets scored 67 points on the night and ensured that they will have the sixth-worst record heading into the draft. MarShon Brooks scored nine points on 4-of-17 shooting with four boards, one assist, and two steals, Gerald Green had 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting with five boards and a block, Johan Petro showed up to go for nine and 12, Armon Johnson (11 points, five assists) outplayed Sundiata Gaines (seven points, two assists), and Anthony Morrow hit three triples for 11 points.
  • ATL Center #10
Johan Petro started at center vs. the Kings, notching 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in just 19 minutes.
Petro is a seven-year veteran but he’s still only 26 years old, so he should be capable of logging as many minutes as Avery Johnson asks of him. Shelden Williams (eye) is out for at least two more games, so give Petro a look if you need a low dose of rebounds and blocks.
