The Raptors have waived Joe Wieskamp.
The Raptors requested waivers on Wieskamp’s contract on Monday, the day before his contract for the 2023-24 season was due to be guaranteed. The 2021 second-round pick out of Iowa appeared in just nine games for the Raptors last season, with the majority of his run coming with the team’s G League affiliate.
  • TOR Shooting Guard #11
Joe Wieskamp played 29 minutes in Saturday’s 108-101 win over the Warriors, accounting for 27 points (8-of-11 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three 3-pointers.
Wieskamp saved the best for last with regard to his summer league experience, putting up a highly-efficient 27 points in the Raptors’ final game in Las Vegas. And the timing couldn’t be better, as the Raptors have until July 18 to decide whether or not to guarantee Wieskamp’s contract for the 2023-24 season. After playing in nine games with the Raptors last season, he’ll hope to get the opportunity to play more next season. Toronto has two open two-way slots, so it would not be surprising if Wieskamp were with the team in some capacity.
  • TOR Shooting Guard #11
Joe Wieskamp finished with 18 points (5-for-13 FGs), two rebounds, three blocks and two 3-pointers against Brooklyn on Thursday.
Wieskamp has spent the majority of his first two seasons in the NBA playing in the G-League, but he has gotten a chance to show what he can do this summer. He’ll likely be back in the G-League this upcoming year, but if he keeps playing well, he could find his way into playing more minutes in the NBA than with Raptors 905.
  • TOR Shooting Guard #11
The Raptors and Joe Wieskamp have extended the deadline for picking up his contract action to July 18.
Initially, the Raptors had until June 30 to decide whether or not to guarantee Wieskamp’s contract for the 2023-24 campaign. The decision made on Thursday gives both sides more time to evaluate things, with Wieskamp expected to play for the Raptors’ Summer League team. Toronto’s front office can also go through free agency before making a decision on his deal. Wieskamp wasn’t in the rotation most nights last season, so a decision regarding his contract is unlikely to impact fantasy basketball.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (right hamstring strain) is available for Friday’s game against the 76ers.
Wieskamp will be available, but he’s unlikely to get the minutes needed to be a viable option in fantasy basketball leagues.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (right hamstring strain) and Dalano Banton (left thumb sprain) are both being listed as questionable for Friday’s game against the Sixers.
Both Wieskamp and Banton are being listed as questionable. Neither have played in the last 2 weeks and neither are main stays in the rotation.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (strained right hamstring) will not be available for Tuesday’s game against the Heat.
Wieskamp isn’t in the rotation on most nights when he’s healthy, so his absence will not impact fantasy basketball.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (strained right hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Friday’s matchup with Detroit.
Wieskamp isn’t a large enough part of the rotation for his absence to impact fantasy basketball.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (strained right hamstring) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Pistons.
Even if he is cleared to play Friday night, Wieskamp is unlikely to get the minutes needed to be of value in fantasy basketball leagues. Leave him on the waiver wire.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #37
Joe Wieskamp (strained right hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
Wieskamp was initially declared available for Wednesday’s game, but he has since been ruled out. While this won’t impact fantasy basketball, the Raptors have an incredibly thin bench.
