Jerryd Bayless has officially signed with the Sichuan Blue Whales in China.
The terms of the deal are not known, but if it’s just a one-year deal, he may have an opportunity to come back to the states for the end of the NBA season. Bayless appeared in 34 games with the Wolves last season, averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 dimes in 19.3 minutes.

Jerryd Bayless has reportedly agreed to a deal with Sichuan of the CBA.
Entering his age-31 season, Bayless is nearing the end of his career as a backup guard, so he’ll take a more lucrative deal overseas. Bayless will be able to return stateside once the CBA season concludes, but he’s not a guy who will be relevant in fantasy hoops.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerryd Bayless (ankle) will not suit up for Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets.
Bayless will end up missing the final three games of the season, and he’ll be joined on the sidelines by Jeff Teague (foot), Derrick Rose (elbow), Robert Covington (knee) and Luol Deng (Achilles). Jared Terrell will continue to backup Tyus Jones at the PG spot with Bayless unavailable.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerryd Bayless (right ankle) will not play on Tuesday vs. the Raptors.
We don’t expect Bayless to play in the season finale on Wednesday either. Jared Terrell is expected to pick up the backup PG minutes behind Tyus Jones this evening.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerryd Bayless (right ankle) is questionable to play on Tuesday vs. Toronto.
Bayless missed Sunday’s game, and we’d expect that to again be the case over Minnesota’s final two meaningless games. Jared Terrell will serve as Tyus Jones’ primary backup with Bayless on the sidelines.
  • PHX Point Guard #21
Tyus Jones tied his career high with 13 assists on Sunday, adding 10 points and five rebounds in a 132-126 loss to the Thunder.
The Wolves aren’t playing for anything but pride, but this loss must sting. The silver lining for all of Minnesota’s injuries has been more playing time for young guys like Jones, Josh Okogie, Dario Saric and Keita Bates-Diop, all of whom played well on Sunday. Jones’ fantasy appeal next season depends where he lands in restricted free agency, and what happens with the Wolves’ entire backcourt -- Jeff Teague has a player option, while Derrick Rose and Jerryd Bayless are unrestricted FAs.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerry Bayless (right ankle contusion) will not play against the Thunder on Sunday.
Bayless was a late addition to the injury report a few hours prior to game-time and will dress, but not play. Jared Terrell will step into the backup point guard role with Josh Okogie, C.J. Williams, Cam Reynolds and Keita Bates-Diop available to see added opportunity with Bayless sidelined.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerry Bayless (right ankle contusion) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Thunder.
Bayless is a late addition to the Timberwolves’ injury report. If he can’t go, Tyus Jones will have even more opportunity at point guard with Jared Terrell seeing more time has his backup. Josh Okogie, C.J. Williams, Cam Reynolds and Keita Bates-Diop will all be candidates to soak up the extra minutes made available in the even that Bayless sits out.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerryd Bayless was instrumental in Minnesota’s 131-130 win over the Warriors on Friday with 17 points, six assists and two triples in 26 minutes.
He checked in for Tyus Jones at the start of the fourth quarter and took over the game with 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtime combined. Bayless wasn’t making any noise entering this game with Jones firmly in front of him, and we don’t see that balance of power changing in the final two weeks since player development is the focus.
  • MIN Point Guard #8
Jerryd Bayless played 16 minutes off the bench with two points, one rebound, three assists and one turnover against the Hornets on Thursday.
He even saw some time at SG with the Wolves losing most of their depth. Tyus Jones and Josh Okogie should handle the vast majority of the guard minutes, so there isn’t enough opportunity for Bayless here.
