Free agent guard Jerian Grant will sign with the Wizards.
Davis Bertans has opted not to play in Orlando, with the team’s blessing, so they’ll replace him on the roster with Grant. He’s a career 32.4% shooter from deep, who gives the Wizards some added depth and backcourt defense, but there’s unlikely to be fantasy value here.

  • HOU Point Guard #25
Jerian Grant has reportedly agreed to a deal with a club in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Grant didn’t receive any interest during free agency, but he should get a nice payday overseas. He’ll be able to return stateside at the conclusion of the CBA season, but he’s a non-factor in fantasy hoops.
  • HOU Point Guard #25
The Magic have declined to tender a qualifying offer to Jerian Grant, according to David Aldridge of The Athletic.
Grant was the team’s backup point guard for most of the season, but was surpassed by Michael Carter-Williams late in the year. Grant is a serviceable third point guard and will get looks from multiple teams.
  • HOU Point Guard #25
Jerian Grant was a DNP-CD against the Hawks on Sunday.
Grant had been getting the backup PG minutes behind D.J. Augustin recently, but didn’t get off the bench on Sunday as the Magic took a look at Michael Carter-Williams, who’s on a 10-day deal. It’s possible that Grant will return to the rotation sooner rather than later, but he’s fallen off the fantasy radar for the moment.
  • HOU Point Guard #25
Jerian Grant had nine points on 3-of-4 shooting (all 3-pointers) in 17 minutes off Orlando’s bench on Sunday, adding five rebounds and one assist.
Isaiah Briscoe may be done for the season with a small tear in his right meniscus. That leaves the backup PG minutes wide open for Grant, who struggled to gain traction with the same role earlier this season. “He’s going to be important,” coach Steve Clifford said. “We’ve played good games with Jerian, too, and we’re going to have to do that. He shoots the ball well. He’s got good size.” Even if Grant does stabilize the bench unit, he’s unlikely to help most fantasy owners.
  • HOU Point Guard #25
Jerian Grant played 20 minutes with six points, two rebounds, four assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes against the Mavs on Friday.
He’ll be the backup PG for the foreseeable future, but D.J. Augustin is playing well as the starter. Grant is a deep-league stream at best because of his weak schedule.
  • ORL Point Guard #13
Isaiah Briscoe (sore right knee) is questionable for Friday’s game vs. Dallas.
Briscoe is averaging 5.8 points in 21.0 minutes over the Magic’s last four games, serving as the primary backup PG behind D.J. Augustin. If Briscoe is unable to play Friday night, Jerian Grant would likely re-enter the rotation.
  • Point Guard #14
Updating a previous report, D.J. Augustin (sprained right ankle) will start vs. the Cavs on Sunday.
Isaiah Briscoe should maintain his typical backup PG role, therefore, and anyone considering Jerian Grant as a DFS punt should scramble for an alternative.
  • Point Guard #14
D.J. Augustin (right ankle sprain) is “hopeful” to play vs. Cleveland on Sunday.
Augustin is a game-time decision and is warming up to see how his ankle responds. If he can’t go, Jerian Grant and Isaiah Briscoe will share the PG minutes.
  • Point Guard #14
D.J. Augustin (right ankle sprain) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers.
Augustin hurt his ankle in the first half of Saturday’s game against the Pacers. He started the second half, but was unable to continue playing in the final 20 minutes of the game. Jerian Grant is likely to start if Augustin can’t go, reports Magic beat writer John Denton. Isaiah Briscoe will also see an uptick in minutes if Augustin can’t play.
