Evan Mobley (rest) and Jaylon Tyson (knee) are out for Thursday’s game against the Spurs.
The Cavaliers are in firm control of the top spot in the East and have taken opportunities to rest members of their “core four occasionally.” Mobley will sit out Thursday’s game, and his absence coincides with Donovan Mitchell’s return after not playing on Tuesday. De’Andre Hunter, Sam Merrill, Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade are four options to fill the void left by Mobley, with Hunter offering the highest upside. As for Tyson, his continued absence does not impact the Cavaliers’ rotation.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
Jaylon Tyson (knee) has been ruled out against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
This will be a third-straight absence for Tyson, though he hasn’t been a consistent part of the rotation when healthy. He may have seen a bump in minutes with Donovan Mitchell out on Tuesday, but he won’t get that opportunity.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
Jaylon Tyson (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Jazz.
Tyson will miss a second consecutive game with a knee issue. The rookie has not been in the Cavaliers’ rotation when healthy, so his absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
Jaylon Tyson (knee) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jazz.
Tyson did not play in Friday’s loss to the Suns, as a sore left knee put him on the sidelines. The rookie’s status does not significantly impact fantasy basketball, as he is not guaranteed rotation minutes when healthy.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
Jaylon Tyson (knee) has been ruled out against the Suns on Friday.
Tyson will miss this game after being a late addition to the injury report. The rookie’s role has been minimal since the All-Star break, so this won’t impact the team’s rotation.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
Jaylon Tyson (knee) has been added to the injury report as questionable to play against the Suns on Friday.
The rookie is a late addition to the injury report, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he was sidelined for Friday’s game. However, he hasn’t been a consistent part of Cleveland’s rotation since the All-Star break.
  • CLE Small Forward #1
Max Strus (ankle) is out for Monday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Initially questionable for Monday’s game, Strus has been downgraded to out. With Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade out, Sam Merrill and Jaylon Tyson are potential replacements in the starting lineup. Another player who should benefit regarding playing time is De’Andre Hunter, who will make his Cavaliers debut after being acquired from the Hawks at the trade deadline.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #3
Caris LeVert (wrist) has been upgraded to available to play against the Mavericks on Sunday.
After missing the team’s last seven games, LeVert will finally make his return to the lineup after dealing with a sprained right wrist. Sam Merrill and rookie Jaylon Tyson will likely lose out on some minutes with LeVert available to play.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #5
Sam Merrill (illness) is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Hawks.
Merrill did not play in Wednesday’s win over Miami, joining Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade on the sideline. With Darius Garland (rest) also out, Cleveland called on rookie Jaylon Tyson to start. However, backup guard Ty Jerome proved most valuable as a streamer. Garland is back, so Tyson will come off the bench regardless of what happens with Merrill. There’s no need to stream him.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #24
The Cavaliers will start Donovan Mitchell, Jaylon Tyson, Max Strus, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen against Miami on Wednesday.
Tyson will get the second start of his career in place of Darius Garland (rest). Tyson had 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in his previous start, which was a blowout win in November.
