Jarrett Jack and Sebastian Telfair, who will be competing for point guard minutes in Portland, appear to have hit it off well so far.
''Sebastian and I hit it off in the summer league, so we’re cool. Even though he’s a young guy, he has a year of experience under his belt and he’s been showing me the ropes a little bit. There will definitely be some wars in practice, but that’s a good thing.’' As of right now, Telfair’s penciled in as the starter.

Joe Chealey has been waived by the Hornets.
Chealey will likely end up in the G-League after spending last season with the Hornets’ affiliate.

Jarrett Jack, who recently signed with the Heat’s G League team, will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL and lateral meniscus as well spraining the MCL in his left knee.
Jack signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Pelicans back in Septemeber, but was waived at the end of the preseason. Sadly, this is probably the end of Jack’s career. He is expected to pursue coaching if he does retire.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
The Pelicans have waived guard Jarrett Jack.
The Pels will enter the 2018-19 season with Elfrid Payton and Frank Jackson holding it down at point guard.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack didn’t leave the Pelicans’ bench during Sunday’s exhibition.
The veteran inked a non-guaranteed deal to join New Orleans for training camp, but his inactivity tonight suggests he won’t make the roster. Even if he does, his locker-room presence will far outweigh his on-court contributions.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack has agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Pelicans.
Jack will be competing with Frank Jackson at camp for the third-string point guard position, but based on how he played in New York last season, he should be able to come out on top in that battle. If he does secure a regular-season roster spot, he’ll be competing with Ian Clark for the backup PG minutes, meaning he’ll be a non-factor in fantasy hoops.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
With the trading of Steve Blake to the Bucks on Monday, Jarrett Jack looks like the starting point guard in Portland.
He will have fantasy value even though he will struggle at times. Look at drafting him after you already have a couple guarantees at point guard. Now that he’s starting, he has some nice sleeper potential this season.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack hit 8-of-15 shots and three 3-pointers on his way to 20 points, nine assists and a steal in Wednesday’s win over the Warriors.
Jack is having a fantastic season and is one of the few Hornets paying off in the midst of a five-game week. Here’s to hoping he keeps it going over the next three games.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack (ankle/foot) will not play on Friday against the Spurs.
This gives Greivis Vasquez another start and he is essentially a must-own player unless your roster can’t afford the possibility that Jack returns. Jack sounds like a guy that wants to return, but at some point the Hornets have to consider the possibility that they’re mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Jarrett Jack’s ankle injury may “take some time” according to coach Monty Williams.
If owners needed anymore confirmation to run out and pick up Greivis Vasquez this is it. Still, Jack could return and clutter things up down the road, but we’re talking about a game-changing fantasy producer off the wire at this stage of the season -- make the move.
