Jan Vesely signed an extension with Fenerbahce that will keep him under contract until 2022.
Vesely, the No. 6 overall selection in the 2011 draft, previously flirted with a return to the NBA, but will stay in Turkey for the next few years.
  • WAS Power Forward #24
Jan Vesely scored just four points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one turnover, and no other statistics in Friday’s loss.
Vesely had one of his good nights with 10 points, five boards, a steal, and a block on Thursday, and this is one of his bad nights. He needs an offseason to hone his skills, and he’ll be facing the dreaded bust label heading into next year.
  • NBA Center #42
Nene (foot) and Trevor Booker (foot) have been ruled out of Friday’s game against the Nets.
Not a huge surprise considering that each was not expected to play, but this is confirmation that they’ll continue to miss time. Kevin Seraphin, who is averaging 13.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks as a starting center, is once again a strong fantasy play. Jan Vesely will draw another start at power forward.
  • IND Power Forward #20
Trevor Booker (foot) has been ruled out of Friday’s game against the Nets.
This will mark Booker’s fifth straight missed game. Jan Vesely will continue to fill in at power forward, where he’s scored 10 points in three of his last four starts and is shooting well above 60 percent in each of those four contests.
  • IND Power Forward #20
Trevor Booker is expected to miss Wednesday’s game due to his plantar fasciitis.
Booker remains day-to-day but the Wizards don’t have any incentive to rush him back -- they’re foundering at the bottom of the standings, and in the meantime they can develop their young players. In fact, they’re expected to once again start two rookies (Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton) and three second-year players (John Wall, Jordan Crawford, Kevin Seraphin).
  • NBA Center #42
Head coach Randy Wittman said that both Nene (foot) and Trevor Booker (foot) are both unlikely to play on Wednesday against the Pacers.
“Probably not tonight,” Wittman said. This means another healthy dose of Kevin Seraphin for the Wizards, who has averaged 12.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on 52.8 percent shooting in seven starts at center. Jan Vesely should once again make the start for Booker at power forward, and the rookie has averaged 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds over his last two starts.
  • IND Power Forward #20
Trevor Booker (foot) is unlikely to play once again on Wednesday against the Pacers.
Booker has missed the last two games and is likely to miss his third straight. Jan Vesely will continue to fill in for him as the starting power forward and has averaged 12.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game on over 60 percent from the floor.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #27
Jordan Crawford scored 17 points on 6-of-20 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a three in the Wizards’ 38-point loss to the Knicks on Friday.
The Wizards scored 65 points total and hit just 28 percent of their shots, so this box score gets pretty ugly. John Wall hit just 2-of-12 shots for eight points with five rebounds, four assists, five steals, and seven turnovers, and Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely both failed to score.
  • WAS Power Forward #24
Randy Wittman heaped praise on Jan Vesely for being more aggressive.
“He’s putting the ball on the floor. We’ve seen him shoot from the outside more than we have at any point in the start of the year,” said Wittman. Vesley is averaging 8.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals in April and has looked much more comfortable than he did earlier this season.
  • WAS Power Forward #24
Jan Vesely scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds, one steal, and one block in 39 minutes on Monday.
Vesely started because both Trevor Booker and Nene are out with plantar fasciitis. It’s hard to ignore a year’s worth of inconsistency, but not knowing the story with the foot issues in Washington he is worth a look.
