Jakob Poeltl recorded a double-double on Monday with 24 points (11-of-18 FGs), 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals against the Nuggets.
Before fouling out for the second straight game, Poeltl was able to set a new season-high for scoring and steals while recording another double-double. It’s still early, but Poeltl has been fantastic so far. He is averaging career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and free throw percentage. His free throw numbers are still bad, but going from abysmal to just “bad” is a big step in the right direction. Even though Toronto isn’t going to be competing for a postseason spot, Poeltl should be effective whenever he’s on the floor.

Jakob Poeltl shot 10-of-14 from the field in Wednesday’s loss to the Raptors, scoring 20 points with 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 35 minutes.
In an interesting development, both starting centers in Wednesday’s matchup (Poeltl and Charlotte’s Nick Richards) shot 10-of-14 from the field. Poeltl has recorded a double-double in consecutive games, and he’s also scored 16 points or more in three of the last four. With Scottie Barnes out for three weeks and Immanuel Quickley also sidelined, Poeltl won’t lack opportunities to score, especially in the two-man game with RJ Barrett.

Jakob Poeltl finished Friday’s win over the 76ers with 19 points (5-of-8 FGs, 9-of-11 FTs), nine rebounds, three assists, and four blocks in 27 minutes.
Two nights after struggling against Cleveland’s Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, Poeltl rebounded with a solid effort against the 76ers. By this point in his career, fantasy managers know what they will get from the Raptors center. Poeltl provided solid value in the win, posting solid points, rebounds, and block numbers in his 27 minutes on the floor.

Jakob Poeltl played 30 minutes in Tuesday’s exhibition win over Boston, finishing with 15 points (6-of-8 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), 16 rebounds, and four assists.
Poeltl did two noteworthy things on Tuesday: he avoided early foul trouble and made free throws. The Raptors center only committed one foul during the first half, and the 3-of-3 night from the line was a welcome development for a career 53.8% shooter. The career percentage makes it challenging to trust Poeltl in a roster build that doesn’t punt free-throw percentage, but he remains a worthwhile option in the middle rounds of drafts.

Jakob Poeltl logged 25 minutes in Sunday’s exhibition against the Celtics, tallying 14 points (6-of-10 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), 13 rebounds, and two assists.
Poeltl recording a double-double is unsurprising, so Sunday’s performance should be viewed as a sign that he’s rounding into form ahead of the regular season. Fantasy managers know what they’ll get out of the 7-foot-1 center: solid points, rebounds, and field-goal percentage, while they may take a hit in the free-throw percentage category.

Gary Trent Jr. (lower back stiffness) is probable for Saturday’s matchup with the Wizards, while Immanuel Quickley (personal) and D.J. Carton (right ankle sprain) are sidelined.
GTJ sat out Friday, but it looks like he’s poised to return for the second game of Toronto’s back-to-back set. Quickley and Carton both remain without timelines to return, and they’re among a handful of notable absences, including RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl and Scottie Barnes.

Jakob Poeltl underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left pinky finger and is considered out indefinitely.
There is certainly a chance that Poeltl is done for the season, which means that Kelly Olynyk should be rostered everywhere. Olynyk moved into the starting unit on Tuesday and delivered a 15/6/7/2/2 line in 28 minutes. There’s no reason to think that Poeltl won’t be 100% healthy long before training camp next season.

Jakob Poeltl (dislocated left pinkie finger) will visit with a specialist and is without a timeline for return.
Poeltl injured his finger during Sunday’s win over Toronto, one of two Raptors starters to exit with hand or finger injuries. The 7-foot-1 center being sidelined means a move into the starting lineup for Kelly Olynyk, who needs to be rostered in all standard leagues.

Jakob Poeltl (dislocated left pinkie finger) has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans.
Poeltl injured his finger during the first half of Sunday’s win over the Hornets, with Kelly Olynyk filling the void to begin the third quarter. Olynyk, who was already a popular streaming target due to Scottie Barnes’ fractured finger, should be rostered in standard leagues, at a minimum.

Jakob Poeltl (dislocated left pinkie finger) will not return to Sunday’s game against the Hornets.
Poeltl dislocated his finger during the second quarter, exiting during the period’s final minute. Kelly Olynyk started the second half and was already a trendy name in fantasy basketball due to Scottie Barnes suffering a fractured finger on Friday. At a minimum, Olynyk should be rostered in standard leagues.
