  • HOU Small Forward #8
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets are picking up Jae’Sean Tate’s player option for the 2024-25 season.
Tate, who appeared in 65 games last season, will make approximately $7.6 million in 2024-25. The versatile forward averaged 4.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.6 steals in 15.2 minutes, with his production and playing time decreasing due to the arrivals of Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson. And this was with Tari Eason missing most of the season with a leg injury. A healthy Eason in the rotation lowers Tate’s fantasy ceiling even more.

Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle sprain) has been ruled out for Thursday’s Rockets-Jazz game.
Tate has been ruled out with plenty of time to spare and hasn’t impacted fantasy basketball much whether he’s healthy or not. Fantasy managers need not consider his status when making lineup decisions this week.
  • HOU Small Forward #8
Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle sprain) will not play in Tuesday’s game against Orlando.
Tuesday’s game will be the third that Tate misses, but his absence does not significantly impact fantasy basketball. Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore are available and will continue to play more minutes on the wing than anyone not named Dillon Brooks.
  • HOU Small Forward #8
Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle sprain) will remain sidelined for Sunday’s game against Dallas.
Tate will miss a second straight game, but he hasn’t been a large part of the team’s rotation recently. His continued absence will not make much of an impact on fantasy basketball.
  • HOU Small Forward #8
Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle sprain) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Heat.
Tate played only three minutes in Thursday’s loss to the Warriors and has logged nine minutes or less in each of his last four games. Even with Amen Thompson (ankle, finger) sidelined, Tate’s absence is unlikely to impact the Rockets’ rotation.
  • HOU Power Forward #10
Jabari Smith Jr. has been ejected from Saturday’s game against the Jazz due to a conflict with Kris Dunn.
Dunn may have started the “fight” by tugging on Smith’s jersey, but both players were ejected after they each threw some punches. Houston outscored Utah 47-21 in the first quarter, so Dunn may have been trying to give his team some motivation. Jeff Green, Reggie Bullock and Jae’Sean Tate should all help make up for Smith’s absence.
  • HOU Power Forward #10
Jabari Smith Jr. is questionable for Wednesday’s matchup with the Clippers due to an illness.
Jeff Green is also questionable due to left knee pain, so Jae’Sean Tate and Cam Whitmore could be in line for expanded run if JSJ is ultimately ruled out. Whitmore is the preferred streaming option.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore (right ankle sprain) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies.
This makes it two consecutive games on the sideline for Whitmore, who was initially believed to have a chance of playing on Wednesday. While Jae’Sean Tate’s minutes did increase, he’s unlikely to play enough to merit being streamed. Starters Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr. hit the high 30s in minutes played during Monday’s win over the Knicks; that’s likely to be the case on Wednesday as well.
  • HOU Power Forward #10
Jabari Smith Jr. (illness) and Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle soreness) are available for Saturday’s game against the Hawks.
Smith and Tate are good to go after initially being questionable to play. The former will take his usual place in the starting lineup, with the latter providing depth off the bench. Tate hasn’t offered much fantasy value in his role, so feel free to leave him on the waiver wire.
  • HOU Power Forward #10
Jabari Smith Jr. (illness) and Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle soreness) are questionable to play against Atlanta on Saturday.
Houston is already without Alperen Sengun and Cam Whitmore for this game, and they could end up being incredibly short-handed in the frontcourt. Jeff Green, Dillon Brooks and Reggie Bullock will all be available, and they could all have to play big minutes if Smith and Tate can’t suit up. Unfortunately, none of them are good options for fantasy.
