The Suns are 6-1 at home since they erected “Bones Warrick” in their locker room, a skeleton wearing Hakim Warrick’s jersey, headband, arm-sleeve and shoes.
Warrick, who is averaging 7.0 points in 15 minutes per game this year, said that “the worse I eat, the more I can’t gain weight. I can eat anything -- Wendy’s or whatever. It just doesn’t stick to me.” At first he wasn’t thrilled about his skeletal alter ego, understandably, but now that the Suns are winning he says “we’ve got to leave it all season.”
  • LAL Power Forward #88
Markieff Morris started in place of injured Channing Frye (shoulder) and had six points and four rebounds on 3-of-8 shooting in 24 minutes of Tuesday’s loss.
Hakim Warrick had 12 points and five boards off the bench, and with Channing Frye already ruled out for Wednesday, the two should split minutes again on Wednesday.
  • CLE Center #9
Channing Frye will fly to Utah for Tuesday’s game against the Jazz, but his status “is still very much in doubt” according to beat writer Paul Coro.
We don’t want to speculate about whether or not Coro’s comments were intended to mean that he’s doubtful, questionable, or probable, because we think Coro just wanted to set the record that Frye isn’t necessarily going to suit up because he made the trip. That said, with the playoffs on the line against the Jazz, we’d tend to think if he can get the ball to the rim that he’ll see at least some action. He’s still one of the Suns’ only shot blockers and the Jazz will have to respect him until he proves he cannot stretch the defense.
  • CLE Center #9
Channing Frye will miss Tuesday’s crucial game against the Jazz with a shoulder injury, but Grant Hill will play.
Hill’s always iffy with his sore knee, but will give it a go tonight. Either Hakim Warrick or Markieff Morris will start in Frye’s place, but Morris is the stronger bet for a good fantasy line.
  • ORL Power Forward #31
Coach Alvin Gentry said he isn’t sure who will start at power forward if Channing Frye (shoulder, personal) can’t play Tuesday.
Hakim Warrick started the second half on Saturday, but Markieff Morris has five starts under his belt from earlier this season. Expect some kind of timeshare if Frye sits.
  • ORL Power Forward #31
Hakim Warrick is content with his role on the team.
Warrick has only played sporadically and is currently behind both Channing Frye and Markieff Morris on the depth chart. With Alvin Gentry stating that he’s going to use Morris as his first power forward off the bench, Warrick is not even close to being on the fantasy radar.
  • CLE Center #9
Channing Frye left Saturday’s game after suffering another right shoulder subluxation -- he will not return.
Frye suffered the same injury last season and it cost him nearly two weeks, so this is dreadful news for the playoff-hungry Suns. Rookie PF Markieff Morris, as well as Hakim Warrick, should be asked to pick up the slack in Frye’s absence.
  • CLE Center #9
Channing Frye hit 3-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 10 points and 10 rebounds in Monday’s win.
He’s off to a terrible start and rookie Markieff Morris was the big story today. Frye could easily lose his job to Morris at some point, while Hakim Warrick is also getting minutes. Even if Frye continues to start, owners may enjoy losing the headache and picking up a hot free agent.
  • DEN Small Forward #8
Josh Childress may lose his backup SF job to Hakim Warrick.
Warrick has looked good during training camp and the Suns want to get him into the rotation, but there’s very little room behind Channing Frye and Markieff Morris at PF. Neither Childress nor Warrick are likely to have value in average leagues this year.
  • ORL Power Forward #31
Hakim Warrick is losing opportunities at PF for the Suns with the arrival of Markieff Morris.
Channing Frye and Morris are going to get their share of minutes at the 4, leaving Warrick picking at the scraps. The Suns have toyed with using Warrick at SF to get him more run, but with Grant Hill’s return, that spots not going to offer many more minutes than PF. Either way, there’s no reason to draft Warrick this year.
