Greivis Vasquez will start against the Knicks on Saturday.
The last time Kyle Lowry missed a game (Apr. 5, 2014), Greivis Vasquez had 26 points, four boards, four dimes, one steal and six treys in 37 minutes. He should get a huge increase in playing time in a favorable matchup. If you’re looking to stream a point guard tonight, look no further.

Greivis Vasquez basically conceded that his basketball playing days are over, and that he “cannot walk, jog or run correctly.”
Vasquez is dealing with an ankle injury that remains unstable despite multiple surgeries since 2015. “It’s pretty bad,” Vasquez said. “I’m not out of the league because of my talent. I’m out of the league because of an injury. It’s pretty depressing, but it’s something I have to face.” He joined the Pelicans’ coaching staff for Summer League, though, and sounds ready to pivot to coaching as the next chapter in his hoops career.

Greivis Vasquez is reportedly in negotiations with the Israeli team Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem.
Vasquez made no secret about his interest in playing overseas, and his agent has already placed one client (D.J. Strawberry) with Jerusalem. As an under-contract NBA player, Vasquez will need to have an opt-out clause.

Updating a previous item, Greivis Vasquez is expected to sign a contract with Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel next week.
Vasquez’s interest in playing overseas has been no secret, and now he’ll finally put pen to paper in Israel. His contract will include an out clause to return to Memphis after the lockout.

Greivis Vasquez was reportedly offered “a huge two-month marketing deal with the government” to remain in Venezuela.
Vasquez had been discussing a deal with Hapoel Jerusalem, but Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez offered the national star a deal too good to refuse. The value of the marketing deal isn’t known, except that it “includes a lot of money.”
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack (ankle/foot) will not play on Friday against the Spurs.
This gives Greivis Vasquez another start and he is essentially a must-own player unless your roster can’t afford the possibility that Jack returns. Jack sounds like a guy that wants to return, but at some point the Hornets have to consider the possibility that they’re mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack’s ankle injury may “take some time” according to coach Monty Williams.
If owners needed anymore confirmation to run out and pick up Greivis Vasquez this is it. Still, Jack could return and clutter things up down the road, but we’re talking about a game-changing fantasy producer off the wire at this stage of the season -- make the move.
  • BKN Point Guard #21
Greivis Vasquez started for injured Jarrett Jack (ankle) on Friday against the Spurs, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with six rebounds, one steal, and just one assist in 29 minutes.
Part of his problem was the Spurs’ dominance, but Eric Gordon’s presence is something for owners to watch, too. Jack’s injury “may take some time” according to Monty Williams, so Vasquez should be owned in all formats despite the slow night.
  • NOP Point Guard #1
Jarrett Jack (ankle) is not expected to play on Saturday.
There’s no clear timetable for Jack’s return, and in light of Monty Williams’ recent comments that the injury may “take some time,” there’s too much risk to bother hanging onto him. Greivis Vasquez remains a solid fantasy fill-in until, or unless, Jack steps back onto the court.
  • BKN Point Guard #21
Greivis Vasquez had nine points, nine assists and seven turnovers on 4-of-9 shooting in another start at point guard.
He hasn’t been as good as J.J. Barea, but has still been an effective starting point guard since Jarrett Jack went down for the season with a knee injury.
